The competition on Rock the Block<\/a> is fiercer than ever, thanks to the show\u2019s first-ever celebrity contestants.<\/p>\n Season 7<\/a> of the HGTV series marks the first time celebrities have competed in pairs with some of the network\u2019s biggest stars. One of the teams includes Good Bones<\/a> star Mina Starsiak Hawk<\/a> and Super Bowl champion-turned-actor, producer, and author Vernon Davis<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was amazing. She\u2019s a hard worker, and she got up every, every day with great enthusiasm,\u201d Davis exclusively<\/a> told TV Insider of working with Starsiak Hawk. \u201cShe\u2019d always be the first one on set, last one to leave. She really wanted to win, and I could see it in her. And not only did she want to win, but I learned a lot of stuff from her, from chopping wood to installations with cabinets, and just creating our own cushions and things of that nature. She was really a treat to be around.\u201d<\/p>\n In an interview with People<\/a> last month, Starsiak Hawk revealed that the cast were always getting up to \u201cshenanigans\u201d on set<\/a>, and even noted that Brooke Hogan<\/a> \u201cgot a couple solid tackles of Vernon because she\u2019s a tall lady as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Davis confirmed what Starsiak Hawk said while chatting with TV Insider, sharing, \u201c[Brooke] came up to me, and then she just tackled me. And I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh! Where did that come from?\u2019 She\u2019s standing [and saying,] \u2018Let\u2019s do it again, Vernon. Let\u2019s film it this time. However, fans did learn from the show\u2019s Monday, April 13, season premiere that Hogan and her partner, Scott McGillivray<\/a>, are tough competition. The pair scored the first win of the season with their \u201cmodern hacienda\u201d bedroom suite transformation.<\/p>\n \u201cI always thought Scott and Brooke was our biggest competition,\u201d Davis revealed to TV Insider. \u201cThey\u2019re just our biggest competition. I just always thought that, from the beginning to the end, just because of their confidence. They had great confidence. They were always, like, excited and happy. So I just thought they\u2019d be our biggest competition.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to the celebrity contestants, Season 7\u2019s other twist is that winning teams have the option to add $3,000 to their design budget for the next week or add $1,000 to their total appraisal value at the end of the competition. During the season premiere, Hogan and McGillivray chose to add $3,000 to their budget for the next episode\u2019s design challenge.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s annoying that Scott won,\u201d Starsiak Hawk quipped in a confessional after their opponent\u2019s win. \u201cScott is just so smug and so happy with himself.\u201d Davis, for his part, stated, \u201cHe was flashing the money at the end. I\u2019m like, \u2018Dude, look. It\u2019s not how you start. It\u2019s how you finish.\u201d<\/p>\n Davis ended the episode on an optimistic note, telling the cameras, \u201cThe future is bright for us, as long as we stay the course.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
