Online<\/a><\/p>\n Sheinelle Jones<\/strong><\/a> had three very special visitors pop into Studio 1A.<\/span><\/p>\n During the April 14 episode of <\/span>Today With Jenna & Sheinelle<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Sheinelle was surprised on air by her and late husband <\/span>Uche Ojeh<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s three kids: 16-year-old son <\/span>Kayin<\/strong> and 13-year-old twins <\/span>Clara <\/strong>and<\/span> Uche Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n The teens appeared in the studio to celebrate the release of Sheinelle\u2019s new book, <\/span>Through Mom’s Eyes<\/span>\u2014and it\u2019s safe to say there wasn\u2019t a dry eye in the house.<\/span><\/p>\n Jenna Bush Hager <\/strong>had the pleasure of unveiling the sweet surprise, telling her co-host, \u201cWe couldn’t celebrate this book or this day without the three people [to] whom you dedicated. So Kayin, Clara and Uche, come on out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n After her kids came out on stage holding a massive bouquet of flowers, they shared a warm embrace with their mom before each taking turns speaking about her.<\/span><\/p>\n “Words can\u2019t even describe it. I\u2019m so happy for you, Mom,” Kayin told Sheinelle as she grew emotional. “You\u2019ve worked on this since quarantine. We\u2019ve had the ups and downs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n More from E! Online<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve obviously gone through so much,\u201d he added, \u201cand I\u2019m so happy for you.”<\/span><\/p>\n Uche Jr. highlighted his mom\u2019s best attributes, saying, \u201cI feel like her compassion and kindness to everybody she\u2019s around just has such a great effect on everybody.”<\/span><\/p>\n TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle\/YouTube<\/p>\n And Clara presented her mom with a framed quote in the style of her book cover that she lives by\u2014which made Sheinelle grow even more teary.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOh my goodness,\u201d the 47-year-old said. \u201cHow special is this?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, the moment was extra meaningful considering Sheinelle had been working on this book for several years. In the midst of her writing process, her husband\u2014who she married in 2007\u2014was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n This led to Sheinelle <\/span>taking some time off from <\/span>Today<\/span><\/a> to spend time with her family. Just four months later in May 2025, <\/span>Uche died<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Since then, the TV personality hasn\u2019t been shy about sharing details of her grief journey. In fact, she <\/span>recently admitted how difficult it is to carry on like normal<\/span><\/a> while raising three young kids.<\/span><\/p>\n “People see me on TV and they think ‘Oh, she’s better,'” she told <\/span>People<\/span><\/a> in January. “It’s like, ‘Oh, no no. I’m not better.’ Every day, it’s like swimming through mud.”<\/span><\/p>\n “Even just to do normal things, to get up and brush your teeth, go to work, have the kids go to school, get dinner on the table, whatever it is, doing that when you’re grieving is very difficult,” she continued. “I really had to do that work. I recognize that I hold two things: I hold my grief and I also hold this joy. I said it months ago, and I’ll say it now: I am fighting for my joy.” <\/span><\/p>\n And part of the way she\u2019s doing that these days is through her new book, which details life lessons from the moms of celebrities including <\/span>Lady Gaga, Matthew McConaughey <\/strong>and<\/span> Steph Curry.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt truly is my love letter to mothers,\u201d Sheinelle <\/span>wrote on Instagram<\/span><\/a> after announcing her book. \u201cI hope you love it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n As Sheinelle celebrates her latest accomplishment, take a look back at her and Uche’s sweetest family moments.<\/span><\/p>\n Life Partners<\/p>\n Sheinelle Jones<\/strong> often spoke about how she met her husband Uche Ojeh<\/strong> while giving him a tour of campus at Northwestern University when she was just 19.<\/p>\n As Savannah Guthrie <\/strong>noted in Today\u2019s May 23 tribute to the consultant, he was a \u201cremarkable man who was Sheinelle\u2019s perfect partner in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Dedicated to Faith<\/p>\n Throughout his battle with glioblastoma, the<\/span> Today<\/span> anchors emphasized that Uche was devoted to his faith as well as his Nigerian heritage. In <\/span>a post from 2021<\/span><\/a>, Sheinelle shared that all three of their kids dressed in \u201cnative Nigerian wear\u201d for their baptism. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n That Guy<\/p>\n As the father of kids Kayin<\/strong>, and younger twins Clara<\/strong> and Uche Jr<\/strong>., Uche put his family first.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201c<\/span>He loved those kids more than anything else in this world,\u201d <\/span>Craig Melvin <\/strong>emphasized in <\/span>Today<\/span>\u2019s tribute. \u201c<\/span>He was just so proud. He was that dad that was on the sidelines of every soccer game, all of the concerts, recitals. He was that guy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n A \u201cHumble Man\u201d<\/p>\n During Today\u2019s broadcast, <\/span>Al Roker<\/strong> noted that while Uche was quiet, he was \u201cwickedly funny,\u201d adding, \u201cHe was a humble man.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Biggest Supporter<\/p>\n In a birthday tribute to Uche in 2021, Sheinelle emphasized that her late husband was always by her side. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen I put in his picture and click \u2018search\u2019 on my iPhone … pretty much ALL of the pics, are of him by my side,\u201d she explained on Instagram. \u201cAnd\/or helping the kids with homework, music or soccer lessons. I am truly thankful to be on this journey with such a beautiful human being.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Going the Distance<\/p>\n In the <\/span>Today<\/span> segment honoring Uche, Savannah emphasized that Sheinelle and Uche overcame obstacles including long distance to make their romance work. And for Sheinelle, it was all worth it.
