Donald Trump revealed what he really thinks about King Charles in a bombshell phone call, during which he criticised Britain’s immigration and energy policies. Speaking to Sky News, the US President spoke warmly about the King ahead of the monarch\u2019s upcoming visit to America, describing him as \u201ca great gentleman\u201d, \u201ca great friend of mine\u201d and \u201ca fantastic person\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Trump made the comments in a conversation which took place just an hour after Buckingham Palace announced details of King Charles and Queen Camilla\u2019s historic four-day trip to the United States. The King and Queen are due to spend the first day of the visit in Washington, where the monarch will meet the US President, before travelling to New York and then Shenandoah in Virginia. In a call with Sky news presenter Mark Stone on his personal mobile phone, Trump appeared enthusiastic about the visit and made clear his admiration for the King. However, despite his warm words for the monarch, Trump also launched into criticism of Sir Keir Starmer<\/a> and the UK Government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Asked whether his repeated criticism of the Prime Minister risked making things awkward for the King during the visit, Trump insisted that would not be the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He said: \u201cNo, not at all.
