A flurry of those own things have been announced this week.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>First, there\u2019s 26.2, a new label from former WMG execs Julie Greenwald and Max Lousada that has been setting tongues wagging in the industry for months. The gossip can now stop: the new company is official.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>It\u2019s also defiantly old-school: a pure label that\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/max-lousada-and-julie-greenwald-are-in-business-welcome-to-26-2-in-partnership-with-sony-music\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lousada told MBW<\/a>\u00a0will be \u201cmusic and art-first and digital solutions-second, not the reverse\u2026 there is too much conversation today on the distribution of art versus the creation \u2013 and the raising up \u2013 of that art\u201d.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The second new venture announced this week is Joan of Arc Music, founded by Cindy Mabe, formerly chair and CEO of Universal Music Nashville.\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/music\/news\/cindy-mabe-joan-of-arc-music-nashville-country-execs-1236721284\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Variety described it<\/a>\u00a0as focusing on artist development, label services, publishing and management as well as TV\/film production and \u201cnext generation technologies\u201d.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>Here too, there\u2019s an art-over-tech pitch though. \u201cCountry music is at a crossroads.\u00a0We risk losing the very essence of what makes country music special \u2013 its authentic storytelling, its connection to people\u2019s real lives, and its deep cultural roots,\u201d said Mabe. \u201cJoan of Arc Music exists to be warriors for creators and protect artistry.\u201d\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>These may be independent companies, but they do not sit entirely outside the major ecosystem. 26.2 is working with Sony Music as its distribution partner, while Joan of Arc has inked a deal with Warner Music Nashville \u2013 so in both cases, the partners are not their former employers.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>Finally this week, RCA Records president Mark Pitts has announced that he is exiting to focus on his own \u201cmulti-media management company\u201d called Cofvnders, although he will still have a consultancy role with RCA and Sony Music.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>Usher and Chris Brown\u2019s new tour, as well as plans to support Japanese songwriters and music through export initiatives, are among the work for his new venture.\n\n\n<section id=\"block-35\" class=\"below-content widget widget_block\">\n<p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Related Stories<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<\/section><section id=\"block-32\" class=\"below-content widget widget_block\"><aside>\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<\/section><section id=\"block-25\" class=\"below-content widget widget_block\">\n\n<\/section><\/div>\r\n<p><em> \u2018 The preceding article may include information circulated by third parties \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\r\n<p><em> \u2018 Some details of this article were extracted from the following source musically.com \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The recent rounds of reorganisation within major labels have seen some big-name executives exit those companies \u2013 either as part of planned cuts, or because the time seemed right to seek new pastures or do their own thing.
