Actor Ruby Rose\u2019s public allegations of sexual assault against pop star Katy Perry have made their way to Australian officials, days after the former raised her claims on social media. <\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the Victoria Police in Australia confirmed in a statement to The Times on Wednesday that its Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team launched an investigation into a \u201chistorical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010\u201d but did not confirm the identities of the involved parties. The spokesperson said police were informed that the alleged assault occurred \u201cat a licensed premises\u201d in Melbourne\u2019s central business district, a metropolitan hub that hosts a number of nightclubs among other cultural establishments. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage,\u201d the spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
Representatives for Rose and for Perry did not immediately respond Wednesday to requests for comment. <\/p>\n
Rose, the 40-year-old Australian actor known for \u201cOrange Is the New Black\u201d and the CW series \u201cBatwoman,\u201d accused Perry, 41, of sexual assault in a series of Threads posts over the weekend. In the comments section of a Complex Music post <\/a>about Perry\u2019s reaction to Justin Bieber\u2019s Coachella set<\/a>, Rose wrote<\/a> \u201cKaty Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne.\u201d In other replies, Rose said the incident occurred when she was in \u201cmy early 20s\u201d and alleged the \u201cTeenage Dream\u201d and \u201cI Kissed a Girl\u201d singer \u201cbent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting\u201d genitals on the actor\u2019s face \u201cuntil my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her.\u201d<\/p>\n Perry \u2014 via a representative \u2014 denied the allegations<\/a> in a Monday statement shared with The Times. \u201cThe allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,\u201d Perry\u2019s rep said. <\/p>\n \u201cMs. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n Rose, amid her departure from \u201cBatwoman\u201d in 2021, was accused by Warner Bros.
