Newcastle-based twin sisters <\/span>Dolder<\/span> have released their latest single \u2018<\/span>Bone Structure<\/span>\u2019, a quietly beautiful meditation on heartbreak that follows their single \u2018<\/span>Sleeping Dogs<\/span>\u2019 released in February and their 2025 EP<\/span> \u2018The Motive<\/span>\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Stripped-back acoustic guitars open the track, then melt into the background, allowing the perfectly twinned harmonies to shine through. While their songwriting draws on artists such as <\/span>boygenius<\/span>, <\/span>Gracie Abrams<\/span>, and <\/span>Fleetwood Mac<\/span>, their music feels distinctly true to their roots. Beyond their technical ability as vocalists, <\/span>Danielle and Zara Dolder <\/span>share a deep connection and understanding of each other that directly translates to their music, making for an intimate listen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n There are undertones of heartbreak and betrayal as they sing: \u201c<\/span>I hate your guts, love your bone structure\/ Miss you like I’m grieving\/ I\u2032m pathetically scheming for you<\/span>.\u201d The track centres around the tumultuous aftermath of a manipulative relationship, and explores what happens when someone you once loved reveals their true colours. There is a conflict between hating the person\u2019s actions, but still yearning for them. Yet towards the end of the track, there is a realisation that this person was not worthy of admiration: \u201c<\/span>But now you\u2019re Ray Bans on a circus clown<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Their sound carries influences of folk, indie, and country music with a nostalgic feel to it.\u00a0 Different elements, including piano, synthesisers, and understated percussion, are woven together cohesively with Dolder\u2019s vocals in an acoustic symphony.
