Boards of Canada<\/a> have shared a new recording called \u201cTape 05,\u201d which marks their first new music in 13 years.<\/p>\n The influential Scottish electronic duo haven\u2019t released an album since 2013\u2019s\u00a0Tomorrow\u2019s Harvest<\/em><\/a>, but they\u2019ve occasionally reemerged over the years to offer remixes<\/a>, archival reissues<\/a>, and an NTS DJ set<\/a> for Warp Records\u2019 30th anniversary in 2019. Last month, the band sent fans into a frenzy by mailing out VHS tapes featuring their signature hexagonal logo. According to reddit threads, Discogs users, and a Boards of Canada fan site, the tapes contained audio from an ad for a Christian Bible school magazine that was discontinued in 1991.<\/p>\n Then, they launched a poster campaign with eerie artwork akin to the design found on their 1998 album Music Has the Right to Children;\u00a0<\/em>the posters went up in London, New York, California, and Shibuya, Japan\u2019s Liquidroom venue. Warp, their longtime label, hasn\u2019t confirmed a new project from the duo, but they did post a carousel of photos of the posters to their Instagram page on April 14th.<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n \u201cTape 05\u201d then appeared on the duo\u2019s YouTube page on the morning of April 16th, although Warp and Boards of Canada have made no official confirmations that a new album is on the way. Still, \u201cTape 05\u201d certainly boasts Boards of Canada\u2019s unique, evocative style; with an ambient crawl featuring strings and a thick atmosphere of sound, it\u2019s a nerve-touching turn from the duo.
