CBS\u2019s late night time slot will look a lot different next month after \u201cThe Late Show<\/a>\u201d goes off the air.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

After more than 30 years on television, the staple programming \u2014 hosted by Stephen Colbert for over 10 years \u2014 will officially end May 21. Starting the next day, its 11:35 p.m. slot will be filled by Byron Allen\u2019s comedy talk show \u201cComics Unleashed,\u201d airing two half-hour episodes Mondays through Fridays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The roundtable series, executive-produced by Allen and first launched in syndication two decades ago, features Allen alongside four comedians who \u201cshare stories, tell jokes and bring the biggest laughter to television,\u201d according to its synopsis. It currently airs on CBS right after \u201cThe Late Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Once \u201cComics Unleashed\u201d shifts into its new time slot, the hour will be taken over by the comedy game show \u201cFunny You Should Ask,\u201d also executive-produced by Allen, which currently airs at 1:35 a.m. on CBS.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI created and launched \u2018Comics Unleashed\u2019 20 years ago so my fellow comedians could have a platform to do what we all love \u2014 make people laugh,\u201d Allen said in a press statement. \u201cI truly appreciate CBS\u2019 confidence in me by picking up our two-hour comedy block of \u2018Comics Unleashed\u2019 and \u2018Funny You Should Ask,\u2019 because the world can never have enough laughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

CBS shockingly announced in July that it was canceling \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert,\u201d<\/a><\/span> also confirming there were no plans to bring in a new host. Speaking with guest Oprah Winfrey on April 8<\/a><\/span><\/span>, Colbert reflected on the decision, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t want to let anything go yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI still have a white-knuckle grip on all these people who I love, who I\u2019ve worked with all these years,\u201d the late-night host added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
