But the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/royalcentral.co.uk\/interests\/ascot\/the-prince-and-princess-of-wales-present-prestigious-trophy-at-royal-ascot-190988\/\"><br \/>\nPrincess of Wales<\/a> has set the pace with this latest vogue. In<br \/>\n2023, Kate attended Ascot in a bright red dress by Alexander<br \/>\nMcQueen and a matching hat designed by Philip Treacy.<\/p>\n<p>Queen Mary of Denmark also chose red for her visit to Royal<br \/>\nAscot in 2016, wearing the dress with a white hat to give a nod to<br \/>\nthe colours of her country\u2019s flag. It\u2019s the third annual guide to Ascot and dressing well by<br \/>\nCreative Director Daniel Fletcher.<\/p>\n<p>As the inaugural colour of the year was announced, Daniel<br \/>\nFletcher said \u201d<em>For 2026, we\u2019re seeing a distinct shift towards<br \/>\nconfident, expressive colour with Bright Tomato set to take centre<br \/>\nstage as a defining shade in occasionwear, bringing a bold new<br \/>\ndirection for the Royal Ascot palette. That bright orangey-red of a<br \/>\nripe tomato creates an instant feeling of summer joy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tom Johnson, Commercial Director, Ascot, said \u201d<em>This year\u2019s<br \/>\nfashion campaign reflects the evolving style of our audience while<br \/>\ncelebrating the much\u2011loved ritual of dressing up \u2013 something that<br \/>\nremains central to the spirit and identity of Royal<br \/>\nAscot.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>However, the innovation of a Colour of the Year hasn\u2019t changed<br \/>\nthe rules around dressing well at Ascot. For those in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ascot.com\/royal-ascot\/what-to-wear-royal-enclosure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Enclosure,<\/a> there are<br \/>\ninstructions. It means women must wear skirts or dresses that fall<br \/>\njust above the knee or longer and any shoulder straps on show must<br \/>\nbe at least 1 inch wide.
