The funeral<\/a> has been announced for Doug Winstead Jr.<\/a>, the singer, trumpeter and member of the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame<\/a> killed in a crash<\/a> April 11 in Dunn.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The 67-year-old Concord resident was a member of the Band of Oz.<\/a> He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021 and was a songwriter of the year nominee<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Winstead died in a collision with a 2025 Peterbilt tanker truck, according to a North Carolina State Highway Patrol statement.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

His funeral is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Rock Haven Church, 3438 S. Halifax Road in Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until the service.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Celebration of life gatherings will be held for Winstead on dates to be announced in Concord-Kannapolis and North Myrtle Beach, according to Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service of Wilson.<\/p>\n
