Dave Chappelle<\/a> spent years making trans people the butt of his jokes<\/a>, then watched Republicans<\/a> use those jokes as campaign material, and has now arrived at the conclusion that he\u2019s the one who\u2019s been wronged.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In an interview for NPR\u2019s Newsmakers podcast<\/a>, the legendary comedian once again defended his jokes targeting the trans community in recent stand-up specials, but says he resents how \u201cthe Republican Party<\/a> ran on transgender jokes. I felt like they were doing a weaponized version of what I was doing. That\u2019s not what I was doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Speaking with NPR\u2019s Michel Martin, Chappelle recalled a trip to Capitol Hill where he was flocked by many, including far-right Rep.
