Months after The Savant<\/a><\/em> was scheduled to premiere on Apple TV<\/a>, the political thriller may finally see the light of day, according to headliner Jessica Chastain<\/a>.<\/p>\n Apple TV postponed the release of The Savant<\/em> in September 2025, days after the assassination<\/a> of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk<\/a>, but Chastain told Variety<\/a><\/em> a new premiere date for the limited series is forthcoming.<\/p>\n \u201cI can say, before it was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if we\u2019re going to see it,\u2019\u201d the Oscar-winning actor said. \u201cNow I can say, \u2018We\u2019re going to see it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Furthermore, Variety<\/em> reports Apple TV is aiming for a July 2026 release date for the eight-episode series.<\/p>\n Apple TV describes The Savant<\/em> as \u201ctense and thrilling\u201d story following Chastain\u2019s character, an undercover investigator with the titular codename, as she infiltrates online hate groups to stop domestic extremists before they act.<\/p>\n In the show, The Savant is actually Jodi Goodwin, a military veteran who works at the Anti-Hate Alliance and poses as a white nationalist to thwart a large-scale domestic attack, Variety<\/a><\/em> previously reported.<\/p>\n Melissa James Gibson<\/a> created the series, basing the story off a 2019 Cosmopolitan<\/em> article<\/a> by Andrea Stanley about a real-life investigator known as the Savant.<\/p>\n The cast of The Savant<\/em> also includes Nnamdi Asomugha<\/a>, Cole Doman<\/a>, Jordana Spiro<\/a>, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, and guest star Pablo Schreiber<\/a>.<\/p>\n Three days before The Savant<\/em>\u2019s original premiere date, Apple pulled the series. \u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant<\/em>,\u201d the company said in a statement at the time. \u201cWe appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.\u201d<\/p>\n Apple didn\u2019t specify why it was punting the release date, but the decision came less than two weeks after Kirk was shot and killed at a campus event in Utah.<\/p>\n In a statement on Instagram<\/a> at the time, Chastain said she \u201cvalue[d] her partnership\u201d with Apple, but was \u201cnot aligned\u201d with the company on the decision to pause The Savant<\/em>\u2019s release.<\/p>\n She wrote that violence in America \u2014 including not just Kirk\u2019s murder but also the thwarted kidnapping plot against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the January 6th attack on the Capitol, the assassination attempts on President Donald Trump<\/a>, and the shootings of Democratic legislators in Minnesota \u2014 \u201cillustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cI\u2019ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn\u2019t so relevant, unfortunately it is.
