Last month, the Oscar-\u00adnominated Marty Supreme<\/span> star (30) faced a wave of criticism after suggesting that \u201cno one cares\u201d about ballet and opera.<\/p>\n

Theron (50) a former ballet \u00addancer, weighed in on the controversy in a new interview with The New York Times<\/span>, calling out Chalamet.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,\u201d the Oscar-winning \u00adMonster<\/span> actor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time.\u201d<\/p>\n

She predicted that \u201cIn 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothee\u2019s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we shouldn\u2019t [expletive] on other art forms,\u201d Theron said, \u00addeclaring that \u201cdancers are superheroes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Admitting that \u201cdance is \u00adprobably one of the hardest things I ever did\u201d, the South African actor credited the art form for instilling in her \u00ad\u201cdiscipline, structure and hard work\u201d.<\/p>\n

However, Theron further acknowledged that dance is \u201cborderline abusive\u201d, recalling: \u201cThere were several times that I had blood infections from blisters that just never healed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you don\u2019t get a day off. I\u2019m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes. And that\u2019s something that you have to practise every single day, the mindset of just, you don\u2019t give up, there\u2019s no other option,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Independent<\/span> has \u00adcontacted Chalamet\u2019s representative for comment.<\/p>\n

Last month, Chalamet drew the ire of the ballet and opera worlds for negative comments he made during a live conversation for Variety<\/span> in February.<\/p>\n

Chalamet was speaking about viewers\u2019 diminishing attention spans when he said: \u201cI don\u2019t want to be working in ballet or opera where it\u2019s like, \u2018Hey! Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this any more\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll respect to the ballet and \u00adopera people out there,\u201d the Dune<\/span> and A Complete Unknown <\/span>star added, laughing. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
