Jakes<\/a>‘ daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, says she was “almost paralyzed” in a trampoline accident and is now recovering.<\/p>\n In a post shared to Instagram<\/a>, 37-year-old Roberts could be seen wearing a neck brace in a hospital bed. She wrote: “Last night was scary. She called her dad, who called 911. Two hospitals, several scans, and hours later, we learned that I had fractured my neck, herniated discs, and endangered areas of my spine that could have left me paralyzed,” the author and spiritual leader added.<\/p>\n The caption continued: “One disc up or one disc lower, and this would\u2019ve been a different testimony. Instead, I\u2019ll be wearing this brace for 4-6 weeks to keep my neck stable and avoid further damage.”<\/p>\n “Rest and recovery will give my body a chance to heal,” she added in the caption. “I\u2019ll be lying low while I navigate this injury with wisdom. I\u2019m soaking in the presence and kindness of God and in the love of friends and family. Play now!<\/strong><\/p>\n Her injury comes on the heels of her father’s massive, near-fatal heart attack,<\/a> which took place in November 2024, while he was delivering a sermon<\/a> at his non-denominational Dallas megachurch, Potter\u2019s House Church<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to PEOPLE in July 2025, Jakes said the heart attack “just reinforced the fact that none of us knows if we’ll see the light of day tomorrow,\u201d describing how doctors told him he was \u201cfive minutes\u201d away from death. \u201cWe just don’t know.\u201d<\/p>\n Following his heart attack, Jakes passed the torch to his daughter, naming her co-senior pastor of The Potter’s House alongside her husband, Tour\u00e9 Roberts.<\/p>\n As he told PEOPLE at the time, “After my health incident, I didn\u2019t want the church left struggling, trying to figure out where do we go from here. I didn\u2019t want that to happen. I’ve seen a lot of people keep things so long that they built and then ended up killing it.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking to PEOPLE in 2025, Sarah said taking the reins was a bit \u201cterrifying,” adding: \u201cI don\u2019t think anyone could step into this role and not feel a little bit of trepidation. It\u2019s been exciting to work through all the different emotions.
