Due out on June 19 via V2, the new album was written and recorded throughout 2025 and produced by frontman Richard Archer alongside longtime collaborator Wolsey White (pre-order it <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hard-fi.tmstor.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The first taster of the record <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/hard-fi-announce-new-album-sweating-someone-elses-fever-and-take-aim-at-music-industry-on-single-they-aint-your-friends-3932690\">arrived last month in the form of \u2018They Ain\u2019t Your Friends\u2019<\/a> \u2013 which takes aim at the hypocrisies of the modern music industry, and they\u2019ve now followed up with \u2018Looking For Fun\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The new guitar-driven anthem is described by Archer as being largely inspired by the last line on The Clash\u2019s \u2018(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais\u2019: \u201cIt\u2019s about trying to find the joy in life whilst everyone\u2019s trying to kick you in the nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the track, he declares: \u201c<em>Everything is fake and nothing feels true \/ The things that I love they don\u2019t matter to you \/ And you don\u2019t care that\u2019s what\u2019s breaking my heart \/ Should be together but we\u2019re drifting apart<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hard-Fi - Looking For Fun (official lyric video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C0iC30DcLXQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>News of the album follows the band <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/hard-fi-reunion-show-sells-out-in-just-10-minutes-3215558\">reuniting after the Covid lockdown<\/a>, and going on to<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/heres-what-hard-fi-played-at-their-first-gig-in-eight-years-last-night-3320684\">\u00a0play a comeback show at London\u2019s O2 Forum Kentish Town<\/a>, which sold out in minutes. Since then, they have also released the EP \u2018Don\u2019t Go Making Plans\u2019 in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere on the new record, collaborations come from the likes of UK-based Colombian rapper Mike Kalle and Olivier Award-nominated singer Krysten Cummings.<\/p>\n<p>Hard-Fi have also shared details of three huge headline shows, taking place in the UK later this year.<\/p>\n<p>These all take place in December, and include stops at the O2 Academy Brixton in London, the O2 Institute in Birmingham, and the O2 Ritz in Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>Before then, the band will play at festivals including Stockton Calling,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/y-not-festival-2026-reytons-two-door-cinema-club-the-streets-the-libertines-buy-tickets-3911864\">Y Not<\/a>, Kendal Calling and more over the summer.\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ticketmaster-uk.tm7559.net\/c\/2862475\/431519\/7559?sharedid=NME&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.co.uk%2Fhardfi-tickets%2Fartist%2F1004855\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit here for tickets<\/a>\u00a0and more information.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hard-Fi\u2019s 2026 UK headline shows are:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>DECEMBER\u2028<\/strong><br \/><strong>3 \u2013 London, O2 Academy Brixton<\/strong><br \/><strong>4 \u2013 O2 Institute Birmingham<\/strong><br \/><strong>5 \u2013 O2 Ritz Manchester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_3932691\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3932691\" style=\"width: 2000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3932691\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hard-Fi 2026 UK tour poster. CREDIT: Press<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>At their peak, the Staines indie rockers sold over a million copies of 2005 debut \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/reviews-hard-fi-7704-316614\">Stars Of CCTV<\/a>\u2019 and were nominated for the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/tag\/mercury-prize\">Mercury Prize<\/a>, reportedly missing out by just one panel vote to ANOHNI\u2019s \u2018I Am a Bird Now\u2019. They also equalled the record held by\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/bob-dylan\">Bob Dylan<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-prodigy\">The Prodigy<\/a>,\u00a0The Clash\u00a0and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/massive-attack\">Massive Attack<\/a>\u00a0by playing five sold-out nights at Brixton Academy in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, they\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/hard-fi-interview-richard-archer-reunion-tour-interview-3509865\">looked back at their huge accomplishments in an interview with\u00a0<em>NME<\/em><\/a>, and recalled what it was like to be in the \u201800s indie scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were lucky in some ways because there were a lot of new British bands coming along and there was an ear for it,\u201d they said. \u201cPeople wanted to hear about it, they wanted to listen. I always had quite a lot of impostor syndrome but looking back at it now, it was really good and I should have enjoyed the moment a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re into indie music, it was a great time \u2013 there were so many good bands about, you could go and see us,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-futureheads\">Futureheads<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/kaiser-chiefs\">Kaiser Chiefs<\/a>,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/kasabian\">Kasabian<\/a>, all in one week, all touring,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, things are very different now. I know how difficult it is to be a new band or a new act.
