Oscar winner Charlize Theron<\/a> appeared pessimistic about actor Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>\u2019s longevity in Hollywood, suggesting AI will be doing his job in 10 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In a New York Times interview<\/a> published Saturday, the \u201cApex<\/a>\u201d star pounced on the \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d actor\u2019s recent comments that \u201cno one cares\u201d about ballet or opera anymore.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Theron, a former ballerina whose injuries prompted a switch to acting, said, \u201cOh boy, I hope I run into him one day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She said Chalamet made \u201ca very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cBut in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timoth\u00e9e\u2019s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live. And we shouldn\u2019t shit on other art forms.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Chalamet has taken a beating from those in the arts for his February remarks, including from Oscar-winning actor Jamie Lee Curtis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHis comments are silly, and I\u2019m sorry that they\u2019re going to be a bit of his legacy now,\u201d she said<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m sure he regrets the comment because you can\u2019t throw those art forms under a bus. You can\u2019t do it. They\u2019re too important.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Oscars host Conan O\u2019Brien roasted him<\/a> at the recent ceremony where Chalamet lost as a Best Actor nominee for the third time. \u201cSecurity is extremely tight. I\u2019m told there are concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities,\u201d he said in his monologue<\/a>. Addressing the actor directly, he added, \u201cThey\u2019re just mad you left out jazz.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But neither Conan nor Curtis gazed into their crystal balls and saw a relatively brief career for the \u201cWonka\u201d star.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Chalamet\u2019s rep did not immediately respond to a celebrity.land request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
