But even the most jaded veterans couldn\u2019t help but stomp their dusty cowboy boots when Madonna<\/a> made an unannounced cameo<\/a> during Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>\u2018s set on Saturday night (April 18). Twenty years after her first performance at the festival<\/a> in 2006, Madonna performed duets on her \u201cVogue\u201d and \u201cLike a Prayer\u201d with Carpenter and teased a new song from Madonna\u2019s upcoming Confessions II<\/em> album.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n On the heels of last week\u2019s announcement of a release date for Confessions II<\/a><\/em> (July 3) and the issuing of its first single, the trance-y \u201cI Feel So Free<\/a>,\u201d the Carpenter cameo got longtime fans excited about a potential tour in support of the new album. But when Variety<\/a><\/em> asked Madonna manager Guy Oseary if the pop superstar is gearing up for her first run of shows since the 81-date 2023-2024 Celebration tour, Oseary said the details are still up in the air.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not sure yet<\/a>,\u201d the singer\u2019s longtime manager told the magazine after Saturday\u2019s appearance<\/a> when asked if a tour is in the works (see his clarification above). Oseary added that, \u201cI want to see her happy, so whatever makes her happy, I\u2019m all there.\u201d At press time a spokesperson for Madonna had no comment on a possible Confessions II<\/em> tour.<\/p>\n While Oseary didn\u2019t confirm any touring plans, he did note that Madonna and superfan Carpenter were the ones who came up with the idea to collaborate at the festival. \u201cMadonna told me that she and Sabrina talked about it,\u201d he said of the performance at which Madonna, 67, wore the same lavender corset and lace-up boots she wore for her 2006 Coachella set in the Dance Tent. \u201cIt was not my idea. It was a brilliant idea and I think the core of it is what was shown last night, which is love. Last night was just\u2026 I mean, I don\u2019t think my feet touched the ground. It was so beautiful. I loved seeing the joy that she had. It was emotional. That opening was spectacular \u2026 It was a really special night and it was our 20th<\/sup>\u00a0[Coachella] anniversary.\u201d<\/p>\n Madonna also hinted at the historical nature of her surprise set, telling the crowd during the show, \u201cTwenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the Dance Tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part I<\/em> in America, and that was such a thrill for me.
