Disney Night is always one of the most anticipated events of the year on\u00a0American Idol<\/a><\/em>. For Season 24, the Top 9<\/a> got to partake in the beloved theme night, during which they were mentored by past Idol<\/em> contestant Jennifer Hudson<\/a>, who also served as a guest judge.<\/p>\n The nine remaining artists hit the stage with performances of Disney songs, with viewers once again casting their votes for their favorites throughout the episode. Judge Carrie Underwood<\/a>, Lionel Richie<\/a>, and Luke Bryan<\/a> were able to weigh in with their praise and critiques, but ultimately had no say in who was eliminated.<\/p>\n At the end of the episode, the Top 7 was revealed, which means two contestants were sent home. Scroll down for a recap of the performances and to find out who was eliminated!<\/p>\n Daniel Stallworth<\/a> got the night started with an\u00a0Aladdin<\/em> classic, \u201cA Whole New World.\u201d Hudson urged him to bring his \u201cgospel roots\u201d out in the performance.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe advice that Jennifer gave you, you took to heart,\u201d Richie assured Daniel. \u201cYour sermon was amazing, and more importantly, it was so natural. You were just giving God\u2019s gift to us and it was so powerful the way you delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n Underwood added, \u201cI knew you would crush it and I was right. it felt like it was made for you and your voice. It just seemed to easy. Beautiful,\u201d and Hudson told Daniel that he \u201cministered and owned it.\u201d<\/p>\n Finally, Bryan jumped in to say, \u201cI love your charisma, your style, the way you navigate. Everything you do is so well done. Since day one we\u2019ve seen it. You\u2019ve got it all hooked up and put together. You started at one level in that song and really started showing out at the end.\u201d<\/p>\n For his Disney Night performance, Braden Rumfelt<\/a> sang the Oscar-winning song \u201cRemember Me\u201d from Coco<\/a><\/em>. He got a little nervous in rehearsal<\/a> and struggled with the lyrics a bit, but was given a vote of confidence from his mentor.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou have such a great \u2018getting into character\u2019 kind of presence when you sing,\u201d Underwood began. \u201cIt\u2019s really refreshing to watch. It\u2019s not like you\u2019re just out here singing a song and dazzling us with your voice, you\u2019re getting into the character and telling a story, and it\u2019s pretty captivating to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n Hudson told Braden she was \u201cso proud\u201d of him and labeled him \u201ca star\u201d in multiple ways. Bryan said, \u201cThat was a very challenging, tricky song. We\u2019ve seen you come out and sing big moments, but that thing was tender, a lot of movements, a lot of chords. In this high pressure scenario, you did a great job creating the mood and showing us things you could do. I saw a lot of your future in that performance.\u201d<\/p>\n To conclude the commentary, Richie praised Braden for \u201cnavigating\u201d the performance and agreed with Bryan that it was a \u201ctricky\u201d song to sing.<\/p>\n Next up was Lucas Leon with a performance of \u201cLife Is a Highway,\u201d which was featured in the movie\u00a0Cars<\/a><\/em>. Hudson urged him to \u201cown the stage\u201d when he got to the live show, and he did just that when he rocked out with his guitar.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou took every note. You owned the stage. I felt like I was at your concert,\u201d Hudson applauded. \u201cYou are well on your way, young man. Continue to just trust your instinct because you have an instinct that you couldn\u2019t even pay for.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan congratulated Lucas for being so \u201ccomfortable\u201d at such a young age. \u201cYou\u2019re so watchable to just watch,\u201d he admitted. Richie told Lucas he wants him to give even \u201cmore attitude\u201d moving forward.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was joyful. You were up there, you were having fun, you weren\u2019t in your head about it, and it was just entertaining,\u201d Underwood concluded. \u201cIt was fun to watch. It was fun, it was good!\u201d<\/p>\n Season 24 frontrunner<\/a> Hannah Harper<\/a> was next up. She chose to sing \u201cAlmost There\u201d from The Princess and the Frog<\/a><\/em> for Disney Night. It was a \u201credemption moment\u201d after she got criticized online for being good at singing, but \u201c[sucking] at performing\u201d and commanding the stage. Hudson helped her choreograph the number to get some confidence.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI loved it!\u201d Bryan assured Hannah. \u201cIt made my heart smile. It made me smile watching you grow into \u2026 you started with this Reba McEntire<\/a> with attitude kind of thing, then you grew into your character. You did it perfectly like your personality that we know. It\u2019s one of my favorite performances you\u2019ve ever done.\u201d<\/p>\n Richie completely agreed with Bryan, but also gave Hannah \u201ca little hint\u201d for the future: \u201cWhatever you\u2019re gonna wear on stage, whatever shoes you\u2019re going to wear on stage, make sure you wear them in rehearsal so your shoes don\u2019t scare you to death when you start performing!\u201d<\/p>\n Underwood reiterated what she\u2019s said to Hannah before. \u201cThis is another way you remind me of myself,\u201d she smiled. \u201cI got dragged when I was on this show for not moving enough. I had never done anything like this before. Now, I can\u2019t not move. I sing with my entire body. I feel like you are on your way. Just keep taking those steps.\u201d<\/p>\n The next contestant to perform was Chris Tungseth<\/a>. For Disney Night, he chose to sing \u201cLet It Go\u201d from Frozen<\/em>, and he got a lot of advice from Hudson about how to work the stage.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Richie told Chris that he did \u201cfantastic\u201d and noted that he had more \u201cstage presence\u201d this week. Underwood added, \u201cI feel like that is the most we\u2019ve seen you emote. It seemed like you were having fun. It kind of seemed like you were letting go a little bit and I would like to see more of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Hudson compared Chris to a \u201cteddy bear\u201d and said he was a \u201cjoy to watch.\u201d However, she made sure to note that he should be careful not to \u201close the song\u201d when he\u2019s so focused on the performance aspect.<\/p>\n Finally, Bryan said, \u201cGreat job in playing along in the moment and learning what you can do. That\u2019s what this is all about, too.\u201d<\/p>\n When Hudson was a contestant on\u00a0American Idol<\/em>, she sang \u201cCircle of Life\u201d from\u00a0The Lion King<\/em>, which meant she was really able to give Keyla Richardson<\/a> some instruction when she performed the very same song more than 20 years later.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Hudson was so into the performance that she pulled her signature move and threw a shoe at Keyla. The audience would not stop cheering, which prompted Underwood to say, simply, \u201cWhat they said!\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan said it was a \u201cgreat performance,\u201d and Richie had only a simple praise: \u201cLet the congregation say, \u2018Amen!’\u201d<\/p>\n Brooks Rosser<\/a> made a major song choice by performing \u201cThe Climb\u201d From Hannah Montana: The Movie<\/em>. With no past performance experience, Brooks was admittedly still working on his confidence, which went perfect with the song\u2019s lyrics.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Although Brooks sang the wrong lyrics at one point, he kept going and finished the performance strong. \u201cYou have such a special sound that does not come around every day,\u201d Hudson raved. \u201cAnd you\u2019re brave. You\u2019re brave to be here. You\u2019re in the right place. You deserve to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan told Brooks to \u201ckeep digging\u201d and \u201ckeep figuring this out as you go,\u201d while also noting that the song \u201cgot away from\u201d him a few times. Richie said the \u201cmagic\u201d is in Brooks\u2019 voice. \u201cKeep doing that and you\u2019re going places,\u201d he confirmed.<\/p>\n Underwood admitted she was \u201cso proud\u201d of Brooks and that she\u2019s \u201cexcited to see where you go.\u201d Brooks was then surprised with an appearance from last week\u2019s eliminated contestant, Rae, who confirmed<\/a> that the two are dating<\/a>!<\/p>\n The penultimate performance was of \u201cColors of the Wind\u201d from\u00a0Pocahontas<\/em>, sung by Jordan McCullough.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The audience went wild over the performance and the judges could barely get a word in edgewise. Once she was able to speak, Underwood called the performance \u201cperfect.\u201d Meanwhile, Hudson threw both of her shoes and noted that she had nothing else to say.<\/p>\n The final performance of the night was from Kyndal Inskeep<\/a>, whose confidence was shot<\/a> a bit after she lost her voice<\/a> last week. She sang Miley Cyrus\u2019 \u201cButterfly Fly Away,\u201d which she could relate to at this point in the competition.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThat was the way to step into your light. Remember one thing: You were born enough. That was fabulous,\u201d Richie gushed. Underwood admitted that it was \u201cnecessary\u201d for Kyndal to have a moment like last week so she could have a \u201cbeautiful moment of redemption\u201d like this.<\/p>\n Hudson said the performance was \u201cabsolutely beautiful\u201d and also threw her shoe to show her support.<\/p>\n After all the performances, the results were revealed. The seven artists confirmed to be moving on to the Top 7, in no particular order, are: Daniel Stallworth, Keyla Richardson, Jordan McCullough, Chris Tungseth, Hannah Harper, Brooks Rosser, and Braden Rumfelt.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, that meant that two contestants were eliminated. The singers who went home on Disney night are: Kyndal Inskeep and Lucas Leon.
