Actor Reese Witherspoon<\/a> dug in on her support for artificial intelligence after an Instagram post announcing<\/a> why she was finally embracing the \u201cAI revolution\u201d backfired.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Last week, the \u201cLegally Blonde\u201d star tried to <\/a>argue<\/a> that women can\u2019t get \u201cleft behind\u201d by technological evolution<\/span>. She said that the jobs held by women were \u201c3x more likely to be automated by AI,\u201d but women were using the technology \u201cat a rate 25% lower than men on average.\u201d Witherspoon did not explain where those stats came from.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Critics swarmed her Instagram comments section to highlight AI\u2019s downsides and ask whether she was surreptitiously shilling something.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Attempting to set the record straight online Monday, Witherspoon took to her Instagram Story to say, \u201cWell, I guess my AI post got people talking.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Reese Witherspoon\/Instagram<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n \u201cTo be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this,\u201d Witherspoon wrote. \u201cI\u2019m just a curious human. My kids are learning about AI tools, I know a lot of founders who are vibe coding, and I hear about people using AI in EVERY sector of business.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n She went on to address the concerns people shared, admitting many were valid points that touched on issues she cares about.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019m aware of the impact this could have on jobs across so many industries. I understand environmental concerns. I care deeply about local communities. And I have concerns about pending AGI,\u201d Witherspoon wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Although she stressed that she doesn\u2019t believe computers should replace humanity, Witherspoon said she was still \u201cplanning on learning as much as possible so that I\u2019m educated about this technological revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIf you want to learn with me, great, let\u2019s do this!
