Alex Jones<\/span><\/a> had an extreme reaction to the news that his <\/span>Infowars<\/span><\/a> media platform <\/span>may soon be acquired<\/span><\/a> by <\/span>The Onion.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The satirical news site first attempted to<\/span> buy the conspiracy-peddling website in November 2024<\/span><\/a>, at an auction meant to raise the $1 billion in damages Jones was ordered to pay families of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. <\/span>The conspiracy theorist spent years falsely claiming the shooting never happened and that the victims were actors.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Although <\/span>a judge later rejected the sale<\/span><\/a> over concerns of transparency, Ben Collins, chief executive at The Onion\u2019s parent company, said Monday <\/span>that a deal to take over the site had been reached<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jones didn\u2019t seem to be taking the news of the acquisition very well, based on a clip the Infowars social media channel posted Monday night on X.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n In the clip, a shirtless Jones crashes the show of Infowars host Harrison Smith, who jokes that The <\/span>Onion \u201chas stolen the shirt off of Alex Jones\u2019 back.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jones then goes on a tirade \u2015 a shirtless tirade, to be specific \u2015 as he gripes about the unfairness of it all.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThey\u2019re gonna misrepresent that they\u2019re us to confuse people and quote, \u2018Rip people off like Alex Jones did,\u2019\u201d Jones laments. \u201cThey\u2019re gonna make money. The whole thing\u2019s about defaming me. You can\u2019t take something over and then act like you\u2019re somebody, even if you say it\u2019s a parody. You could do a parody of somebody, but not if you took something from them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jones claims he\u2019s \u201calready checked with lawyers, so they\u2019re in deep shit,\u201d and proclaims, \u201cLook, just because you\u2019re wearing my shirt don\u2019t mean you\u2019re me, so let\u2019s be 100% clear about that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
