Welcome back, nerds. If you\u2019re a Stranger Things<\/em> fan who went down the \u201cConformity Gate\u201d theory<\/a> rabbit hole, you won\u2019t have to wait much longer to go back in time and hang with the Hawkins, Ind., crew again.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s not an extra episode of the original series, the new animated series spinoff, Stranger Things: Tales From \u201985,<\/em> from showrunner Eric Robles and Stranger Things<\/em> co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer, drops on Netflix<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we started talking about was there anything else we wanted to do with Stranger Things<\/em>, this was one of our first ideas,\u201d Ross Duffer told Tudum<\/a> of the animated series.<\/p>\n

Here’s what to know about the new series, which spans 10 episodes and drops in full on Thursday, April 23, on Netflix.<\/p>\n

In \u2018Tales from \u201885,\u2019 a new monster has escaped from the Upside Down<\/h2>\n

On Tuesday, Tudum dropped the first six minutes of the first episode, \u201cChapter One: Welcome to Hawkins, New Kid,\u201d on its website<\/a>. It shows the crew getting ready to meet up with each other on a regular day, after hinting at a creature that managed to escape the Upside Down before Eleven closed the gate with her powers. An unknown figure in a hazmat suit attempts to burn the creature with a flamethrower, and we learn that it can regenerate through iridescent green spores that spread.<\/p>\n

The showrunner said it\u2019s \u2018got the thrill of being young, being a kid\u2019<\/h2>\n

Stranger Things: Tales From \u201985<\/em> follows Mike Wheeler, Eleven, Will Byers, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, and Max Mayfield on an epic journey set in the snowy winter of January 1985 between seasons 2 and 3 of the original series.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town in Stranger Things: Tales From \u201985<\/em>,\u201d the logline reads.<\/p>\n

Robles told Tudum, \u201cIt\u2019s got the thrill of being young, being a kid, and going on these thrilling adventures. But then there\u2019s this essence of real danger, real stakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThis is one of the rarest opportunities that we\u2019re ever going to get to be with the main characters. We get to go back in time and really just hang out with these kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
