Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) sparked online backlash after she credited President Donald Trump with having peaceful intentions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Ernst, 55, appeared on Fox Business<\/a>, where she claimed that \u201cyou can\u2019t trust [the Iranians] any further than you can throw them\u201d before stating that Trump<\/a>, 79, is \u201cintent on peace.\u201d The junior senator from Iowa dubbed him \u201cThe President of Peace.\u201d These comments prompted X users to call out the contradictory nature of her assertion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Ernst claimed that the US will maintain economic pressure on Iran. President Trump extended an ongoing ceasefire between the US and Iran, but the US is maintaining a naval blockade<\/a> of Iranian ports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt will have an impact. We will just continue to strangle out the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps], which will disallow them from funding any terrorist proxies and moving on our own military and Israel,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n X users continued to critique Ernst\u2019s claim of President Trump promoting peace in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n An account parodying Trump\u2019s style of social media posts posted a scathing message, writing \u201cJoni, sweetheart, PEACE? He insults allies, hugs dictators, fans wars with his big mouth, and turns every room into a dumpster fire. That\u2019s not president of peace\u2013that\u2019s the GRAND MARSHAL of chaos. You don\u2019t need glasses, you need a full emergency reality transplant.
