Dave Chappelle<\/a> emphasized in a recent sit-down interview<\/a> with PBS News Hour that Donald Trump<\/a> has \u201ccultivated a broth of confusion\u201d in his second term and suggested that the president didn\u2019t take his advice to leave pettiness at the White House door in January 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The comedian stressed that Americans want to have \u201csome semblance of peace,\u201d which they can arrive at in \u201cdifferent ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cBeing a president seems like an opportunity to be a very unifying force, and I feel like perhaps he squandered that opportunity, to put it lightly,\u201d Chappelle said of Trump in his interview with Amna Nawaz.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Earlier in the interview, the comedian chuckled when Nawaz asked him how Trump is faring in the Oval Office this time around.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cYou\u2019re joking, right? Nobody wants to feel this way,\u201d Chappelle replied before arguing that no one wanted the Iran war, a conflict he suggested America is losing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Just days before Trump took the oath of office for a second time, Chappelle used his \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d hosting gig<\/a> to declare that the presidency is \u201cno place for petty people\u201d before calling on Trump to \u201cdo better\u201d this time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Chappelle\u2019s words of advice followed Trump\u2019s 2024 campaign in which he entertained targeting his foes upon his return to Washington.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the year and three months since his second inauguration, the president has done just that in addition to using his Truth Social<\/a> platform to launch petty, public attacks against his critics, living or deceased.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI believe in that same monologue, I reminded him that everyone on Earth is counting on him,\u201d Chappelle said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He proceeded to liken the role of stand-up comedians to leadership positions like the office of the presidency, \u201cWe have to suffer slights and injuries and we have to kind of just let some things go. And we have to focus on what\u2019s actually important.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
