It\u2019s amazing that Florence Welch can crawl and sing and hold a microphone.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s far from all Welch did, though.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of 21 songs, the Grammy-nominated group electrified, floored and wowed the sold-out Garden.<\/p>\n<p>For a closer look \u2014\u00a0especially if you\u2019re on the fence about attending the April 24 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-nyp-link-source=\"trackonomics\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/clicks.trx-hub.com\/xid\/nypost_01638_nypost?p=https%3A%2F%2Fnypost.com%2F2026%2F04%2F23%2Fticket-sales%2Fflorence-and-the-machine-at-msg-recap-where-to-buy-tickets-thoughts%2F&amp;q=https%3A%2F%2Fgo.skimresources.com%3Fid%3D93051X1547088%26xs%3D1%26xcust%3DNYPost-Content-Textlink%26url%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.stubhub.com%2Fflorence-the-machine-brooklyn-tickets-4-24-2026%2Fevent%2F159717130&amp;author=Mlevy1nyp&amp;articleID=39163592&amp;event_type=click&amp;publishdate=april%2023%2C%202026&amp;linksource=web&amp;primarytag=florence-welch&amp;contentsection=ticket-sales\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Barclays Center<\/a> show or April 25 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-nyp-link-source=\"trackonomics\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/clicks.trx-hub.com\/xid\/nypost_01638_nypost?p=https%3A%2F%2Fnypost.com%2F2026%2F04%2F23%2Fticket-sales%2Fflorence-and-the-machine-at-msg-recap-where-to-buy-tickets-thoughts%2F&amp;q=https%3A%2F%2Fgo.skimresources.com%3Fid%3D93051X1547088%26xs%3D1%26xcust%3DNYPost-Content-Textlink%26url%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.stubhub.com%2Fflorence-the-machine-atlantic-city-tickets-4-25-2026%2Fevent%2F160932404&amp;author=Mlevy1nyp&amp;articleID=39163592&amp;event_type=click&amp;publishdate=april%2023%2C%202026&amp;linksource=web&amp;primarytag=florence-welch&amp;contentsection=ticket-sales\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Boardwalk Hall<\/a> gig \u2014 here are my wife\u2019s takeaways from select highlights of the cathartic concert.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">My wife\u2019s take on the Florence and the Machine MSG concert<\/h2>\n<p>To get the show underway, Welch delivered a stinging rendition of the latest record\u2019s title track <strong>\u201cEverybody Scream,\u201d<\/strong> flanked by dancers in long black and white dresses flexing witchy movements.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI thought that was ironic since the song seems to be about how exhausting performing can be,\u201d<\/em> my wife mused.<\/p>\n<p>A little later in the show, F+tM rocked their fan favorite hit <strong>\u201cShake It Off,\u201d<\/strong> but in a slightly slower and more inspiring manner than the version we know and love. <em>\u201cIt\u2019s lighter than the current album,\u201d<\/em> she opined.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After kicking her shoes off, the redheaded frontwoman unveiled the haunting, celestial <strong>\u201cSeven Devils\u201d<\/strong> from 2011\u2019s \u201cCeremonials\u201d that <em>\u201cthe crowd seemed to love\u201d<\/em> and then rolled out the intimate epic <strong>\u201cBig God\u201d <\/strong>where she <em>\u201cknelt on the stage and sang to the GA crowd.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Welch upped the ante with the stirring <strong>\u201cDaffodils\u201d<\/strong> that my wife described as <em>\u201cvery powerful\u201d<\/em> and saw Florence go out into the general admission area where she <em>\u201cpantomimed killing the backup dancers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While that may sound heavy, Welch swerved right after with the bouncy <strong>\u201cWhich Witch\u201d<\/strong> where she <em>\u201cencouraged everyone to jump.\u201d<\/em> Cue MSG shaking!<\/p>\n<p>Although, the sonically-gifted and spiritual group didn\u2019t spend much of the evening re-visiting their biggest hits (there was no <strong>\u201cYou\u2019ve Got The Love,\u201d<\/strong> or <strong>\u201cNever Let Me Go\u201d<\/strong>), they did dip into the well for the otherworldly <strong>Cosmic Love.\u201d<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt was an inspiring reset that builds,\u201d<\/em> my wife said. <em>\u201cShe hit a really impressive long high note, too.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Welch got vulnerable shortly after with <strong>\u201cYou Can Have It All.\u201d<\/strong> She reportedly told the adoring crowd <em>\u201cit\u2019s hard to sing\u201d<\/em> because of her history with the song and the dancers gave her a hug after she wailed the achingly raw final note.<\/p>\n<p>That energy flowed into <strong>\u201cMusic By Men,\u201d<\/strong> which <em>\u201creally showed off her vocal range,\u201d<\/em> my wife added. <em>\u201cOne of my favorites. Very poetic.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the next track, <strong>\u201cBuckle\u201d<\/strong> (which Welch worked on with Mitski), my wife explained that Welch prefaced the song by telling the crowd <em>\u201cit was embarrassing to include this one on the album since it was about someone not texting me back.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Her confession endeared to my wife who told me <em>\u201cI really liked this one. Lighter than her other songs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As she wound the night down, Welch went big with emotion (she was in tears after belting <strong>\u201cKing\u201d<\/strong>) and theatricality (<strong>\u201cHowl\u201d<\/strong> featured <em>\u201clots of skirt-waving choreography\u201d <\/em>that reminded my wife of<em> \u2018The Crucible\u2019 or \u2018John Proctor is the Villain&#8217;\u201d<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Before getting to the encore, Florence unleashed the gorgeous <strong>\u201cSympathy Magic.\u201d<\/strong> <em>\u201cA beautiful, hopeful note to end on,\u201d <\/em>my wife noted.<em> \u201cShe shook hands and hugged people in GA.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Following a short respite, the ensemble returned to much fanfare. The rockin\u2019 <strong>\u201cOne of the Greats\u201d<\/strong> started the last portion of the gig and sent Welch into GA once again.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, after all this wandering and all this waiting, the fiery audience was was treated to the smash <strong>\u201cDog Days Are Over.\u201d<\/strong> To get into the proper headspace, Welch requested that the Flows <em>\u201cput their phones away so they could take it and dance.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dance reigned supreme for the jittery <strong>\u201cFree\u201d <\/strong>before Welch mellowed things one last time for the peaceful <strong>\u201cAnd Love\u201d <\/strong>where she repeats the refrain <em>\u201cpeace is coming\u201d<\/em> that she wishes <em>\u201cwould come true\u201d<\/em> before adding <em>\u201csongs are a prayer or spell.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With that, the lights came up and the restorative show was over. The flower crowns emerged back into the New York City night, standing out as a rare bright spot on that dreary, dreadfully cold evening flowing into the crowd.<\/p>\n<h2 unveiled their vital sixth studio album \u201cEverybody Scream.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The title track, <strong>\u201cEverybody Scream,\u201d<\/strong> which also kicks off the 12-track record, starts mysteriously with a haunting, ghostlike marriage of unnerving yet magical vocals and instruments until the band blows it all up all at once with defiant electric guitar and primal, unguarded screams. From there, the song finds a more straightforward groove yet never wavers from its impassioned ferocity as evidenced by unforgettable, piercing lyrics like <strong><em>\u201cthe witchcraft, the medicine, the spells, and the injections\/The harvest, the needle, protect me from evil\/The magic and the misery, madness and the mystery\/Oh, what has it done to me? Everybody scream.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> This one isn\u2019t just a keeper. It\u2019s an all-timer.<\/p>\n<p>Right after, FatM dive into the slow burn, tongue-in-cheek <strong>\u201cOne Of The Greats\u201d<\/strong> that Florence described as a \u201clunatic, enormous, poem-rant-joke thing\u201d to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/sep\/27\/florence-welch-sexism-screaming-lost-pregnancy-nearly-killed-her\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a>. The tribal, plucky <strong>\u201cWitch Dance\u201d<\/strong> comes next and waffles between effortlessly light instrumentals that will make you feel like running, running, running while Welch\u2019s crushing vocals slow you down like sinking in quicksand.<\/p>\n<p>Up fourth, <strong>\u201cSympathy Magic,\u201d<\/strong> a lilting, gentle piece, discovers a real urgency one minute into its runtime and refuses to let up. The strings and piano reach a fever pitch and, as always, Welch\u2019s immortal voice reaches impossible, sustained high notes.<\/p>\n<p>While there\u2019s no filler later on, we recommend seeking out the lovely, understated <strong>\u201cPerfume and Milk,\u201d <\/strong>surprisingly celestial <strong>\u201cKraken\u201d<\/strong> and symphonic coda <strong>\u201cAnd Love\u201d<\/strong> that melds the harp with synthesizers to create an unlikely auditory cohesion.
