Donald Trump hit out at Prince Harry<\/a> after the Duke of Sussex appealed directly to the US President – as well as Vladimir Putin<\/a> – during his trip to Ukraine. Asked about the royal’s plea for the war-torn country during an event held on Thursday at the White House, Mr Trump initially asked a few questions – seemingly focused on Meghan Markle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n During an unannounced visit to Kyiv, Prince Harry<\/a> addressed Putin and said there is “still a moment, now, to stop this war”. Although he did not mention Trump<\/a> specifically, he said he had a message for the “American leadership”, urging the US to “show that it can honour its international treaty obligations”. When asked about the comments, Trump told reporters: “How’s he doing? How’s his wife? Please give her my regards, OK?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He continued: “I don’t know. I know one thing, Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK, that’s for sure. I think I’m speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry, that’s for sure. But thank him for his advice.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Duke of Sussex gave the speech during a visit to Kyiv in which he met senior members of the Ukrainian miliary and some of the thousands of soldiers who have fought in the war with Russia<\/a>. He arrived at the city’s central station following an overnight train journey from Poland.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Harry said: Years into this war, with immense losses and limited gains, it is increasingly clear that this path offers no victor – only more loss.\u201d He added: “President Putin, no nation benefits from the continued loss of life we are witnessing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He then addressed the Trump administration: “This is a moment for American leadership \u2013 a moment for America to show that it can honour its international treaty obligations – not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
