I had sort of been circled with Eurovision for a few years, where people would sort of come and say, \u2018Would you do it?\u2019 I was either on a show, a tour or a project, and I was in London last year, and we had a couple of headline shows at Hackney and Eurovision was on. I was backstage at my show, and this gentleman from the Sun paper had asked, \u2018Would you ever do Eurovision? I\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019m always open-hearted, \u2018I\u2019m always open\u2026 if timing aligns then let\u2019s talk about it. Then there was this sort of double page article that had said I was going to Eurovision!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got back to Australia [last] November, and the lovely team came into my office and talked about it, I said I\u2019m actually going into a lockdown of making my new album\u2026 I said yes, and I said \u2018I\u2019m gonna go into the studio and I\u2019ll make sure we have the song that I feel represents me in this moment.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"observer-sub-form justify-content-center my-3 p-0 d-flex align-items-stretch bg-dark text-white\">\n<div class=\"observer-sub-form-info p-3\" style=\"justify-content: start;\">\n<h2 class=\"h5 mb-0 observer-title\">Love Music?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"observer-desc mb-2\"> Get your daily dose of everything happening in Australian\/New Zealand music and globally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"spinner d-none\"> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Leaving Sony and going independent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think for me it was always more about making sure that I\u2019m surrounded with the right moment and the right people. I loved major labels\u2026 I\u2019m a real ride or die kind of person, so when I love people and when they\u2019re good, and they\u2019re talented\u2026 I\u2019m there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just recognised that the world had changed after COVID, and I understood that it was a different landscape, and I felt like I wanted to be able to move quick with that landscape, and that was my change of season. But it doesn\u2019t mean that I won\u2019t continue to evolve and be true to the moment next and wherever that leads\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019m just getting started. You just have to keep evolving and moving with it, you know? You can\u2019t hold on to anything that it used to be or was because that\u2019s not here anymore. I welcomed the second COVID happened, I understood, \u2018Alright, so we have to get efficient, everything\u2019s gonna be cut back, we need to be able to learn how to be on our devices and I just adapt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working on first album as an independent artist<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like it\u2019s just about the work. I\u2019m really proud of our evolution in our house, so to speak, when it comes to the amount of wonderful projects and ancillaries to my world there is right now\u2026 I\u2019ve always been somebody who\u2019s steered their own ship.
