During its milestone 50th season, Survivor has used celebrities including Jimmy Fallon and Billie Eilish to drum up interest in the show.<\/p>\n

The season has had some exciting moments with returning players including All-Star castaways like Cirie Fields and Ozzy Lusth. But it has also had some lowlights, including when a cameo from country musician Zac Brown<\/a> sparked a furious fan response due to its unnecessary length.<\/p>\n

But nothing upset fans more than when Jeff Probst relied on his pal Jimmy Fallon for one of the biggest twists in program history.<\/p>\n

The diabolical twist<\/a> effectively destroyed the game of the widely beloved robotics professor Christian Hubicki, who first appeared on Survivor: David vs. Goliath (which also featured White Lotus creator Mike White, who returned for Season 50 as well) in Season 37.<\/p>\n

Due to the “Jimmy Fallon: One in the Urn” twist, the fan favorite Hubicki effectively had to vote himself off the island because he couldn’t complete a difficult puzzle in the allotted time required.<\/p>\n

Fallon explained that Probst pitched the idea and he originally thought it was perfect.<\/p>\n

Then, after putting his head in his hands, he said that Hubicki’s exit “might have been” his fault. He added:<\/p>\n

“Now that we’re in the same place, all I have to say is Christian, I am so sorry. I am so sorry about this. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. It wasn’t supposed to be you and I felt so bad because I love you.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

No matter who received the disadvantage, though, it was extremely difficult to overcome. Not only did they lose their vote, which is their capital in the game, but they had an additional vote against them to start off the tribal council. They also had to announce as much to the rest of the castaways, which made them an easy target as a vote.<\/p>\n

Hubicki told Fallon it was a “roller coaster” to experience what he did while he was in Fiji and he took out his frustrations on a celebrity who was 8,000 miles away.<\/p>\n

Even though Fallon argued that Hubicki made history for voting himself out, it still prevented him from winning the title of Sole Survivor and receiving the million dollar prize pot.<\/p>\n

The next episode of Survivor will feature another celebrity cameo from Mr. Beast, but hopefully this one is less damaging to any of the castaways.<\/p>\n
