Donald Trump has revealed he will discuss “everything” with King Charles in the upcoming state visit.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Reuters, US President said Iran, Nato and the UK’s digital services tax will be among the topics the two will discuss when the monarch arrives.<\/p>\n
“I’m going to talk about everything,” Mr Trump said during a phone interview.<\/p>\n
“I’m going to talk about it. He is a friend of mine, and he is a great guy.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The King and Queen Camilla are due in the US on April 27 for a four-day trip.<\/p>\n
They will visit three locations: Washington DC, New York and Virginia.<\/p>\n
The trip coincides with America’s celebration of 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.<\/p>\n
But the King’s arrival comes against the backdrop of worsening relations between the UK and the US.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Trump has publicly hammered Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.<\/p>\n
Earlier today, the President threatened to slap Britain with all-new tariffs if it does not drop its “cash grab” tax on American companies.<\/p>\n
“We’ve been looking at it and we can meet that very easily by just putting a big tariff on the UK, so they better be careful,” he told reporters in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n
“If they don\u2019t drop the tax, we’ll probably put a big tariff on the UK.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The digital services tax, which came into effect in 2020, imposes a two per cent levy on the revenues of a number of major US tech companies.<\/p>\n
The president has also blasted Sir Keir for his policy on immigration and Net Zero, as well as his failure to support the US-Israeli offensive in Iran.<\/p>\n
However, Mr Trump has insisted the fractious relationship with the PM will not overshadow the King’s arrival.<\/p>\n
In fact, when asked if the state visit could go some way to repairing the weakening relationship, he said: “Absolutely. He’s fantastic. He’s a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
He added: “I know him well, I’ve known him for years. He’s a brave man, and he’s a great man. They would absolutely be a positive.”<\/p>\n
Buckingham Palace has said the visit presents an opportunity to acknowledge the shared heritage between UK and the US.<\/p>\n
It will also highlight the extensive economic, security and cultural bonds that have developed over two and a half centuries.<\/p>\n
Following the American tour, the King will continue to Bermuda for a Royal Visit between May 1 and 2, representing his inaugural trip as Sovereign to a British Overseas Territory.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
