Jesse Malin has confirmed the final extension of his autobiographical stage show Silver Manhattan<\/em>. The performance piece, which falls between a full-band concert and one-man show, will now run through May 10 at New York\u2019s Bowery Palace, the venue situated on the former site of Bowery Electric. In addition, Malin has released a video for his new single \u201cHollywood Forever,\u201d which pays tribute to Howie Pyro, his best friend and D Generation bassist, who died on May 4, 2022, after a long struggle with a failed liver.<\/p>\n Pyro and Malin\u2019s friendship is a key part of the Silver Manhattan <\/em>story. \u201cHowie could get along with anybody,\u201d Malin said in a statement. \u201cHe was friends with both Johnny and Joey Ramone. Hells Angels, skinheads, drag queens, comic-book nerds, art collectors, fashionistas\u2014they all loved him. He would always say, if he had to go, Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the place he\u2019d want to be buried. Howie\u2019s friends made it happen. Vampira is buried there, Jayne Mansfield, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Toto the dog, Burt Reynolds and his friends Mark Lanegan and Chris Cornell are nearby.\u201d<\/p>\n Pyro\u2019s longtime friend Marti Wilkerson, the \u201csixth member\u201d of D Generation, directed the video and shot every photograph featured throughout it, including rarely seen photos from the \u201890s, and Pyro\u2019s own monster memorabilia\u2014most of which is also on display at 96 Tears, the East Village bar inspired by the bassist\u2019s singular career. The video was edited by Rebecca Stern.<\/p>\n \u201cMy play Silver Manhattan<\/em> is a love letter to New York City, and it\u2019s also a love letter to Howie,\u201d Malin says of the show, which begins on the anniversary of Howie\u2019s passing, when Malin suffered a paralyzing spinal stroke at a dinner party celebrating Howie\u2019s life. \u201cI didn\u2019t make it to the end of that party. I ended up in the hospital for three months, but I did write this song to show him how much he meant to me. It\u2019s our story.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cHollywood Forever\u201d features contributions from The Hold Steady guitarist Tad Kubler, Jimmy G from Murphy\u2019s Law and Malin\u2019s longtime band\u2014Derek Cruz (guitar), Rob Clores (keys), Paul Garisto (drums) and James Cruz (bass).
