Parker McCollum is one to watch \u2013 the 33-year-old US country singer-songwriter\u2019s \u201cPretty Heart\u201d was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America this month.<\/p>\n

The amount of support you all have shown me over these years means more to me than you\u2019ll know,\u201d Parker said in a statement. \u201cAll I\u2019ve wanted to do is make music that connects with people and that I can be proud of. I\u2019m just grateful that y\u2019all are playing my songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s another win for McCollum, whose current project, Parker McCollum, is nominated for album of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, taking place next month. The nomination came despite the new album garnering significantly fewer streams compared with the artist\u2019s previous two albums.<\/p>\n

The musician said during an appearance on the Ten Year Town with Troy Cartwright podcast that he doesn\u2019t \u201cgive a s*** one bit\u201d about the stream numbers, but also admitted that he had been feeling burnt out when he wrote the album.<\/p>\n

He added that he didn\u2019t want to release anything for the sake of it \u2013 and only wanted to put out \u201csongs I love and songs that I think could stand the test of time, that are good for songwriting and country music\u201d.<\/p>\n
