Eddie Murphy<\/a> has revealed that his son and Martin Lawrence<\/a>‘s daughter have welcomed their first child together.<\/p>\n The 65-year-old actor confirmed at his American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony on Saturday (April 18) that Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence now have a baby girl named Ari Skye.<\/p>\n \u201cThey just had a baby girl. They just had her two weeks ago or a week ago,\u201d the actor told E! Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n “Oh you don’t give advice like that,” he quipped. \u201cYou know your kids don’t go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you.”<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cThe stuff you be saying, they don’t even pay that s**t no mind. They watch and see what you do. So, I don’t give a lot of advice.\u201d<\/p>\n Eric and Jasmin announced the pregnancy<\/a> earlier in 2026 after a private wedding<\/a> in 2025, writing on Instagram, “Thank you Jesus, for the greatest gift.”<\/p>\n At the AFI tribute, Martin Lawrence humorously recalled how, when he was first starting out, Murphy once declined his request for a photo.<\/p>\n “Now I can get all the pictures I want. Because we’re in-laws,” Lawrence said, per the Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n Dave Chappelle<\/a> also paid tribute to Eddie Murphy during the ceremony by reflecting on Murphy’s influence on his own career and describing how he studied Murphy’s stand-up growing up.<\/p>\n \u201cI would watch him every day after school like I was taking a class,” he said, before telling Eddie, “You are still the hero I want to be.”<\/p>\n The AP reported that Murphy, while accepting the award at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, was visibly moved as he looked out at his family, collaborators, and peers.<\/p>\n \u201cSeeing all of my family, all my kids, my beautiful wife, and seeing all the different people I worked with, I’m just really filled up,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is a special moment. I wish y’all could feel what l’m feeling, see what I’m seeing. I almost teared up. I’m going to get backstage and cry.”<\/p>\n He added, “Thank you for giving me this night that I will remember forever and ever and ever.
