Season 2 of Happy’s Place<\/em> came to an end \u2014 but did Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a> and Rex Linn<\/strong>‘s characters get back together?<\/p>\n

During the Friday, April 24, episode of the hit NBC sitcom, Emmett (Linn) ended his relationship with girlfriend Monica (Cheri Oteri<\/strong>). He told Bobbie (McEntire), who wanted to share with Emmett that she was ready for them to date again. But before Bobbie could explain herself, Emmett made it clear he was done with dating \u2014 for now.<\/p>\n

Bobbie chose to respect Emmett’s wishes and they ended<\/a> the season single. The twist might come as a surprise to fans who tuned into season 2 expecting to see Emmett and Bobbie as a couple.<\/p>\n

However, when season 2 premiered in 2025, Emmett revealed to Steve (Pablo Castelblanco<\/strong>) that he didn’t tell Bobbie he\u2019d known about her secret sister, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo<\/strong>), for years.<\/p>\n

“It’s a big twist, for sure. Everyone knows what’s coming and that’s so thrilling and stressful for the audience,” Escobedo, 28, teased exclusively to Us Weekly<\/em> about Bobbie finding out about Emmett’s secret. “That anticipation, because we know that when this secret drops, it’s going to drop hard.”<\/p>\n

McEntire, 71, noted that there were “consequences” that needed to be addressed.<\/p>\n

“It’s a very important time for something big to happen \u2014 something unexpected,” she added about Bobbie and Emmett’s romance. “You kind of give the audience what they want.”<\/p>\n

While reflecting on the milestone moment<\/a>, Escobedo broke down why now was the right time to explore the romance, adding, “Isabella coming into Bobbie’s life opened her up a bit. It brought out a more vulnerable side because she was forced to be vulnerable. Isabella pushed her to it. There’s a softer side that comes desiring some romance and some comfort.”<\/p>\n

Linn, 69, also weighed in on the timing of the two major story lines.<\/p>\n

“Bobbie has just got a giant crush on him \u2014 most women do,” he quipped to Us. “It’s the right time because it makes it more interesting. We know he has got a little secret but we don’t know what that is and we don’t know where he’s going with it. But he’s in charge of that secret and we’ll see what happens.”<\/p>\n

Executive producer Kevin Abbott<\/strong> previously told Us about the show’s plan for the central fictional relationship.<\/a><\/p>\n

“She’s with Rex now and we thought, ‘If it’s ever going to work, this is going to work.’ For me it works. They are just wonderful together,” Abbott shared in March 2025. “So I’m interested in following that track and seeing how it goes. That was the plan even before we cast Rex \u2014 believe it or not. Because we did cast him and that was always intended as a possible love interest because I’ve got some of those stories I want to tell. I wasn’t able to tell them in the old Reba sitcom.”<\/p>\n
