Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest player, and the fastest by balls faced, \u200cto complete 1,000 runs in T20 cricket as the 15-year-old smashed a 36-ball century \u200cin the Indian Premier League on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Sooryavanshi hit 12 sixes and five \u200bboundaries as he completed his second century in the IPL, shortly after reaching 1,000 runs in T20 \u200bcricket, having faced just 473 balls in \u200cthe format.<\/p>\n

The previous record was held by Australia’s Mitchell Owen, who completed 1,000 \u200bruns in 533 balls.<\/p>\n

The century was the third fastest in IPL history, after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton in 2013 and Sooryavanshi’s \u200bown 35-ball hundred last year.<\/p>\n

“There wasn’t much \u2060thinking… I just played according to \u2060the ball. The wicket felt good, so I backed my game,” said Sooryavanshi, who had \u200chit four sixes in the first over.<\/p>\n

Sooryavanshi fell at 103 off 37 balls, \u200bhelping Rajasthan to post 228-6. Hyderabad chased down the \u200btarget with nine balls to spare, driven by half-centuries from \u2060Ishan Kishan (74) and Abhishek Sharma (57).<\/p>\n

Hyderabad and Rajasthan, both on 10 points, are four points above fifth-placed Chennai in the race to \u2060finish in the top four and progress \u200bto the playoffs.
