Queen Mary of Denmark<\/a> received a few stern words from her mother-in-law during a public appearance at a concert by the Royal Life Guards Music Corps for former Queen Margrethe’s 86th birthday.<\/a>As music played at the event, Tilia, Mary’s pet dachshund, walked between the royals, with Mary briefly breaking formation to give her a pat on the head.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, Queen Mary’s mother-in-law, Margrethe II, didn’t seem to appreciate the move, shaking her head and appearing to correct her with a firm few words.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A Danish fan told Hello! Magazine<\/a> they noted what was said between the pair: “I don’t think now is the correct time for that.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While King Frederik of Denmark laughed at the misshap, Queen Mary quickly obeyed instructions continued with her duties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Queen Mary and King Frederik became the king and queen of Denmark in 2024 when Margrethe, Frederik’s mother, abdicated the throne.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The royal, 54, who visited her hometown in Tasmania just weeks ago on a trip to Australia, continued to wear dark mourning clothes on Thursday, wearing a shade of navy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The royal confirmed her father’s passing as a statement previously read: “It is with great sorrow that Her Majesty, The Queen, announces that her father, Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson, has died in Hobart, Tasmania. He was 84 years old.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added: “My heart is heavy, and my thoughts are grey. My beloved father has passed away. But I know that when the grief settles, the memories will brighten my day, and what will remain strongest is love and gratitude for everything he gave me and taught me.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mary revealed that her father’s health had been declining over the past few years, but they had spent some precious final moments together at the end of March.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A private funeral service is scheduled to be held soon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
