Little Roo will be reunited with his 100 Acre Wood family this week, as the baby Kangeroo from the famous childhood story Winnie the Pooh travels to the US with the King and Queen<\/a>. During the royal couple\u2019s four day state visit to the US, literary lover Camilla will visit the New York Public Library.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The iconic Manhattan building is home to the teddy bears that belonged to A.A. Milne\u2019s son and are believed to have inspired the Winnie the Pooh stories first published exactly 100 years ago in 1926.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Queen<\/a> will see the soft toys when she views the library\u2019s permanent Treasures collection while the couple are in the Big Apple on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But while the special collection displays Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Kanga, and Eeyore, the original Roo toy was lost in an apple orchard in the 1930s and is missing from the collection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The incomplete set will be no more however, as the Queen will gift a replacement Roo doll to the library made especially for the visit by British manufacturer Merrythought, who produced the original toys at the start of the twentieth century.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The design is based on the original illustrations, rather than the more familiar Disney-esque cartoon versions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Roo is currently residing at Buckingham Palace<\/a> preparing for the visit and will be flown over in style, accompanying the Queen on the royal plane.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It is thought that the gift of the bear is a celebration of the many cultural ties between the two nations, one of the aims of the trip.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The US state visit will take place between 27 and 30 April 2026. It will be the first state visit by a British monarch since May 2007.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
