Thomas Markle<\/a> told a royal author that his daughter Meghan Markle always wanted to be \u201cthe star\u201d with a very telling story. Meghan\u2019s dad, who the duchess hasn\u2019t spoken to for some time and remains estranged from<\/a>, reportedly once told author Tom Bower about a conversation he had with the duchess when she was just five-years-old.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n According to Tom Bower, who recently celebrated the publication of his book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, Thomas Markle once took Meghan to a red carpet event when she was a child. This was because Thomas was a lightning director in Hollywood<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n At the event, Meghan reportedly told her father that she wanted to be a \u201cstar\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Recalling the story on The Daily Expresso podcast, Bower said: \u201cHer (Meghan\u2019s) father, who is a good man and she\u2019s treated appallingly, told me of this instance when she was 5 years old.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe was a very successful lighting director in Hollywood and he took her down the red carpet on some opening night.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAnd she said \u2018Daddy I want to do this, I want to be the star\u2019. And that was it, she wanted to be the star.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Bower continued: \u201cShe then became the star by getting married to Harry, a global star, but instead of being happy with that and taking the terms, she was determined that everything had to be on her terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
