Donald Trump has said that King Charles is still on his way to
\nthe US for a State Visit, despite a shooting at a gala dinner the
\nPresident attended just days before the historic trip was due to
\nbegin.<\/p>\n
President Trump spoke to Fox News hours after gunshots were
\nfired at the Correspondents Dinner at the Washington Hilton, with
\nsecurity rushing the US leader out of the room as other guests were
\ntold to get under their tables.<\/p>\n
One suspect, Cole Tomas Allen, is under arrest.<\/p>\n
The shots were fired just 100 yards away from President
\nTrump.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, questions were raised about whether the
\nState Visit, set to start on April 27, would continue as
\nplanned.<\/p>\n
Buckingham Palace said \u201da number of discussions\u201d would be taking
\nplace about whether planning for the visit had been affected by the
\nincident.<\/p>\n
However, Donald Trump was certain that all would go ahead and
\ntold Fox News \u201dfirst of all, King Charles is coming and he\u2019s a
\ngreat guy and we look forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The US leader continued with his praise for The King, who he has
\nspoken of admiringly often, saying \u201dhe\u2019s really a fantastic person
\nand a tremendous representative.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also spoke about The King\u2019s \u201dwell documented problem with his
\nhealth\u201d, saying \u201dhe\u2019s been amazing, he\u2019s very brave actually\u2026and
\nhe\u2019s a friend of mine for a long time and he\u2019s coming and we\u2019re
\ngoing to have a great time and he represents his nation as nobody
\nelse can do.\u201d<\/p>\n
The King\u2019s State Visit to the US comes as the country prepares
\nto mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
\nCharles III is expected to address Congress during his three day
\nvisit.<\/p>\n
There will also be a State Banquet in honour of King Charles and
\nQueen Camilla while a garden party is also expected to take place.
\nAfter the visit to the US, The King will continue on to Bermuda for
\na solo official visit.<\/p>\n
This is the first State Visit by a British Monarch in almost 20
\nyears. Queen Elizabeth II carried out her last State Visit in 2007
\nwhen she was hosted by George W Bush.<\/p>\n
This latest trip follows the historic second State Visit to the
\nUK by Donald Trump, the first time an elected leader has been given
\ntwo such visits. He was hosted, along with Melania Trump, at
\nWindsor Castle by King Charles and Queen Camilla.<\/p>\n
The visit is seen as crucial as the UK works on the \u201dspecial
