Ten years after Prince\u2019s<\/a> death, his estate has cracked open the vault again.<\/p>\n On April 20, NPG Records and Legacy Recordings<\/a> released \u201cWith This Tear,\u201d a previously unheard Prince recording from 1991 that had never officially surfaced until now.<\/p>\n The stripped-down, piano-heavy ballad was recorded at Paisley Park and arrives just one day before the 10th anniversary of Prince\u2019s passing, kicking off what is expected to be a much larger wave of unreleased music in 2026.<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. He wrote it, produced it, arranged it, and played every instrument himself.<\/p>\n The newly released version was mixed and mastered by former Prince engineer Chris James, whose past work with the late icon includes HITnRUN Phase Two<\/em>, Art Official Age<\/em>, and Plectrumelectrum<\/em>.<\/p>\n Prince originally recorded \u201cWith This Tear\u201d in November 1991, then handed it off to C\u00e9line Dion, who released her own version the following year. Fans have known the song through Dion for more than three decades. Now, for the first time, they can hear Prince\u2019s original take \u2014 quieter, more intimate, and unmistakably his.<\/p>\n The release is also the first official sign that the estate is preparing another major vault campaign. More unreleased material is expected later this year, including a long-rumored deluxe edition of Parade<\/em>, the 1986 album tied to Under the Cherry Moon<\/em>.<\/p>\n The expanded release will mark both the album\u2019s 40th anniversary and the anniversary of the film that introduced Prince\u2019s \u201cChristopher\u201d alter ego \u2014 the same pseudonym he used when he gave \u201cManic Monday\u201d to the Bangles.<\/a><\/p>\n Prince built an entire second career behind the scenes, writing songs for other artists that often became hits in their own right. He gave \u201cManic Monday\u201d to the Bangles.
