Jamie-Lynn Sigler of The Sopranos<\/em> is opening up about her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) and her family\u2019s fight for privacy as she navigates this ongoing health battle.<\/p>\n In a new interview with US Weekly<\/em>, Sigler discussed her decision to flee Hollywood and move to Austin, Texas, with her family amid the COVID-19 pandemic five years ago.<\/p>\n \u201cWe needed a change,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Upon leaving Hollywood, Sigler felt greater freedom to focus on being a wife to her husband, Cutter Dykstra, and a mom to their two boys, Beau, 12, and Jack, 8.<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWhen I moved here, I started using a cane once in a while because I didn\u2019t feel like I was being watched,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Rather than being recognized for her celebrity status, Sigler now feels that she is simply \u201cBeau and Jack\u2019s mom at the baseball field.\u201d<\/p>\n Sigler is 44-years-old and was first diagnosed with MS when she was just 20. However, she decided not to reveal her condition publicly until 2016.<\/p>\n Attempting to keep her diagnosis a secret took a great mental toll on her.<\/p>\n \u201cI was always acting. I had no idea what authenticity felt like,\u201d she shared. \u201cEverything was a lie and for show. I didn\u2019t even know who I was.\u201d<\/p>\n The actress, who is currently promoting her new memoir, \u201cAnd So It Is\u2026.: A Memoir of Acceptance and Hope\u201d, recalled feeling as if she was \u201csuffocating\u201d as her \u201csecrets had piled up.<\/p>\n \u201cI was constantly in fight or flight and survival mode.
