The film follows her ascent to becoming the most successful female fighter of the 1990s while detailing the struggles she faced outside the ring \u2014 including being misunderstood by her family in her closeted personal life and subjected to brutal abuse by her husband\/trainer, James Martin (Ben Foster), who nearly killed her in 2010.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"primary-cli cli cli-text \">\n<p>The film also stars Merritt Wever, Katy O\u2019Brian, Ethan Embry, Coleman Pedigo, Jess Gabor, Chad L.
