{"id":2393186,"date":"2026-04-28T16:54:02","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T16:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2393186"},"modified":"2026-04-28T16:54:02","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T16:54:02","slug":"akon-confirms-new-country-album-says-his-music-is-inspired-by-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/akon-confirms-new-country-album-says-his-music-is-inspired-by-country\/","title":{"rendered":"Akon Confirms New Country Album, Says His Music is \u201cInspired by Country\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>During a conversation with Reg Calixte on the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/4Z-YIMPrDYQ?si=81qVoG8gVzKEcBiP\"><em>Won of One: A PLLRS Podcast<\/em><\/a>, Akon has announced he&#8217;ll soon be releasing a full country album featuring entirely original material. <\/p>\n<p>The R&amp;B trailblazer has been teasing a foray into the genre for months now, with Akon previously hinting that he was readying a project featuring country versions of all his hits. <\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Right Now (Na Na)\u2019 hitmaker confirms that he still plans to drop this reimagined greatest hits record, but reveals he is also recording a collection of original country songs. <\/p>\n<p>During the <em>PLLRS<\/em> interview, Akon explains how it dawned on him that there was a strong appetite from fans for a full-blown country album, \u201cNow, I\u2019m making original country songs. We got to the point where we did real research. I didn\u2019t realize how many country music fans wanted to hear an Akon album. They were like, \u2018We want to hear you do original records.\u2019 So, we started to pivot to doing original records\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\n          <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Instagram post\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DXfCk4OhfJ0\/embed\" width=\"400\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowtransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n        <\/p>\n<p>He assures fans he&#8217;ll still be dropping the project with countrified renditions of his biggest songs <em>after<\/em> his debut country record, \u201cI\u2019m going to do a specialty album with all of my hits redone in country after I release the [album of original country music songs]\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Akon goes on to emphasise that, despite making music in the R&amp;B sphere, he has always drawn inspiration from country music, \u201cAll my songs are inspired by country music. When I came from Africa, I only listened to reggae and country. I didn\u2019t know what hip-hop was. I was introduced to hip-hop when I got here. If you listen to a lot of my songwriting, it\u2019s all been storytelling. And that\u2019s all country music ever been. When I wrote songs, I wrote from the mindset of country (music)\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Given the significant influx of artists from genres such as Hip Hop, Pop and R&amp;B into the country arena in recent years, including Beyonc\u00e9, Post Malone, Lana Del Rey, BigXthaPlug and more, Akon&#8217;s new revelation will no doubt be met with a mix of excitement and skepticism.
