The royal couple arrived in Washington<\/a> on Monday to mark the start of a four-day state visit celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As is typical with overseas visits, the King and the US President presented one another with special gifts to commemorate the special visit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Charles gave Mr Trump a framed facsimile of the 1879 design plans for the Resolute Desk, the originals of which are held by the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

These drawings show the front elevation, top and projection of the President’s Desk, currently located in the Oval Office of the White House.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Resolute Desk was created from the timbers of the British exploration ship H.M.S. Resolute. The US Government recovered and refitted H.M.S. Resolute before sending it back to England, where it was presented to Queen Victoria on December 17, 1856, as a gesture of goodwill and friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Trump gifted the King a custom facsimile of a letter from John Adams to John Jay, written in 1785.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It describes King George III receiving Adams as the first U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain at St. James\u2019s Palace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the Queen gave Mrs Trump a Fiona Rae brooch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A member of the British Society of Enamellers, British jewellery designer Fiona Rae received advice and a loan from the Prince\u2019s Trust (now The King\u2019s Trust) and is today one of the UK’s few enamel specialists.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2024, Fiona was among the first businesses to be granted a Royal Warrant from the King.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The First Lady gifted Cilla six Tiffany\u2019s English King Sterling Silver Teaspoons and White House Honey.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The teaspoons are Tiffany\u2019s interpretation of the \u201cKing\u201d designs, which were very popular in England and America in the late 19th century.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Each teaspoon is hand-engraved with Her Majesty Queen Camilla\u2019s cypher.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The White House honey jar nods to the Queen\u2019s interest in beekeeping and reflects a shared appreciation for sustainability, craftsmanship and the natural world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
