Actor Barry Keoghan denied the yearslong rumors that he cheated on Sabrina Carpenter, saying the speculation made him \u201cdisappear.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cI have been avoiding stuff. … I\u2019ve stopped going to events,\u201d Keoghan said on Tuesday\u2019s episode of \u201cFriends Keep Secrets.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI\u2019ve stopped just socializing, and again, it\u2019s because there was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on. A narrative that\u2019s not true and I never confirmed or said anything about it and I just disappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The confession came after the hosts of \u201cFriends Keep Secrets\u201d \u2014 Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco \u2014 <\/strong>complimented Keoghan\u2019s vibe. He thanked them, saying he needed to hear that because the comments on social media have been getting him down.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThere is a lot hatred towards me for just looking like this,\u201d Keoghan said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Keoghan and Blanco shared their experiences of being torn up online over their appearance. Blanco said he has tough skin, but Keoghan didn\u2019t seem to share the same feelings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cUnfortunately, having a relationship in the public eye, it gets put out there and it\u2019s amplified,\u201d Keoghan said, clarifying that he was talking about rumors that was that he cheated in a past relationship, seemingly referring to Carpenter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In late 2024, influencer Breckie Hill raised eyebrows when she reposted a video that speculated she hooked up with Keoghan while he was dating Carpenter. She later denied those rumors in a video<\/a>, telling followers she \u201cdid not get with\u201d Keoghan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Keoghan said he didn\u2019t want to directly address the rumors because he didn\u2019t want to put Hill in the public eye. The actor said even though he isn\u2019t logged into his social media accounts, he will sometimes snoop on burner accounts. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Keoghan and Carpenter broke up<\/a> in December 2024 after dating for a year. Afterward, Keoghan deleted his Instagram account, writing on X, \u201cI can only sit and take so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In August 2025, Carpenter released her Grammy-nominated album \u201cMan\u2019s Best Friend,\u201d which included tracks many fans believe are about Keoghan. Carpenter hasn\u2019t confirmed if any of the songs are about him; she told \u201cCBS Mornings\u201d ahead of the album release<\/a> that she \u201cwouldn\u2019t say.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt\u2019s more fun for people to picture the person in their head than the person I picture in my head, I think,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Keoghan said on \u201cFriends Keep Secrets\u201d that he doesn\u2019t need people to become his fans, but wants the public to \u201cstop jumping on this narrative\u201d and \u201cdragging\u201d him down. He then referenced his tough upbringing, including watching his mother deal with substance abuse<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWhy is it cool to hop on and beat someone who has come from a lot?\u201d Keoghan said. \u201cSomeone like myself or kids like myself. To survive stuff I\u2019ve seen as a kid and stuff I\u2019ve seen. My mom lay on the ground after fucking injecting herself and shit that I have to fight with every day through a lot of therapy, going through addiction myself, and sobriety and to battle all of that, to then want to drag that person down.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
