\n\tMelvin Robert<\/a> is in sync with the Gay Men\u2019s Chorus of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe media personality, who serves as an entertainment anchor on KTLA\u2019s popular morning news show, has been tapped to serve as a guest artist for GMCLA\u2019s spring concert, And The Beat Goes On.<\/em> He joins previously announced guest soprano Nicole Heaston for the two-concert event at Beverly Hills\u2019 Saban Theatre on March 21-22.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe outing will mark a reunion for Robert. He served as a member of GMCLA from 2013-2018, during which time he showed off his talents beyond the screen by singing and dancing, longtime passions for the born and bred Los Angeles native.<\/p>\n

\n\tUnder the direction of music director and conductor Ernest H. Harrison, GMCLA, which is comprised of 200 members, will tackle And The Beat Goes On. <\/em>The concert is being curated with a mix of gospel, R&B, Motown and Broadway classics, with hits from the likes of Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, Gladys Knight, Dreamgirls, The Wiz <\/em>and more.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor his part, Robert said he\u2019s so excited to be \u201creturning home\u201d with GMCLA for this guest outing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Gay Men\u2019s Chorus of Los Angeles has played such a pivotal role in my life,\u201d he said. \u201cIt gave me the wings to fly. That\u2019s the power of the experience and the music \u2014 it transforms, it inspires, it heals.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAdded Lou Spisto, executive director and producer: \u201cI am truly delighted that GMCLA alum and my dear friend, Melvin Robert, is joining the chorus as guest soloist for these concerts. Before his rise to fame as a television journalist, I knew Melvin as a powerhouse musical theater performer with great vocals and the ability to tell a story through song. He now tells wonderful stories to a larger audience every day, and I\u2019m so glad he agreed to come back home to our stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRobert\u2019s resume includes work as an actor, singer, producer and Emmy Award\u2013winning host. Prior to KTLA 5, he co-anchored Good Day LA<\/em> and served as a senior correspondent and weekend host on , with additional appearances as a special correspondent on The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/a>.<\/em> Robert was part of the original talent team that launched Spectrum News 1 SoCal for which he co-anchored Your Morning<\/em> on Spectrum News 1. He also hosted the arts and culture magazine show The SoCal Scene.<\/em> Robert earned a broadcast journalist of the year trophy from the L.A. Press Club in 2022.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe graduate of Loyola High School of Los Angeles and Loyola Marymount University has been seen onscreen in The Young & the Restless, Hacks, LA\u2019s Finest, The Fi<\/em>x and Why Him?<\/em>, and on stage in Rent, Miss Saigon, West Side Story, The Wizard of Oz, The Bayou Legend, Alex in Wonderland<\/em> and Karishma<\/em>.<\/p>\n
