MS NOW\u2019s \u201cMorning Joe\u201d co-host Joe Scarborough on Tuesday suggested Donald Trump<\/a>, first lady Melania Trump<\/a> and their MAGA allies are shedding \u201ccrocodile tears\u201d over their latest efforts to unseat Jimmy Kimmel from his late night show.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kimmel found himself taking heat from the president once again after a joke he made about the first lady last week \u2014 saying she was glowing \u201clike an expectant widow\u201d \u2014 was seized upon by the first couple and fellow conservatives following Saturday\u2019s shooting at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The comedian pushed back on the criticism Monday<\/a>, describing the line as \u201ca very light roast joke about the fact that he\u2019s almost 80 and she\u2019s younger than I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt was not, by any stretch of the definition, a call to assassination,\u201d Kimmel added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Scarborough said the backlash from Trump and his allies amounted to \u201csuch crocodile tears from people who have sat back and said absolutely nothing\u201d when the president has made highly divisive remarks about political foes being executed and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s happened time and time again. So, again, crocodile tears there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Scarborough acknowledged he \u201cwouldn\u2019t have said something like that about any president,\u201d he argued Kimmel\u2019s joke was clearly about the age gap between Trump and his wife and not sinister.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cSo, again, the crocodile tears are a bit too much,\u201d he said. \u201cEven for those of us who would never say something like that or want anybody else to make a joke like that. But it was, at the end of the day, a joke about his age and not violent rhetoric.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
