Her latest album was 2023&#8217;s <em>Cadence<\/em>, and today she&#8217;s announcing its followup <em>A Blooming Body<\/em>. The darkly poetic lead single &#8220;While The Womb Screams Silently&#8221; is out now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This song is inspired by the movie <em>Portrait of A Lady On Fire<\/em> from director C\u00e9line Sciamma,&#8221; Baker explains, continuing:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>In the film, a woman is arranged to be wed, and because of her intense resistance to the situation, a painter is commissioned to secretly paint her wedding portrait without her knowing. The song is about listening to your inner knowing, which often screams loudly but is ignored for the sake of conforming \u2014 constantly trying to break out of the restraints and projections of patriarchy while stumbling over new ones and internalized ones along the way \u2014 &#8220;pulling at an endless thread of thistle \u2014 whose hooks and briars they catch things you thought you couldn\u2019t miss em \/ while the womb screams silently for you to listen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"\/><p><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The LP was recorded with Harlan Steinberger at Hen House Studios. She also invited guests to contribute, such as Greg Cohen (Tom Waits, David Byrne) and Pete Olynciw (Leyla McCalla) on bass, Phillip Rogers (Hayley Hendrickx) on drums, and C.P.N.
