An EMT, um, reacted after being hit by a liner off the bat of the Royals\u2019 Carter Jensen.<\/p>\n

Rookie catcher Carter Jensen struck out in the fourth inning of the Royals\u2019 5-2 loss<\/a> Wednesday to the Athletics in West Sacramento, California.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

But Jensen made A\u2019s starter Luis Severino work in the plate appearance, which was unfortunate for an EMT near the Royals dugout.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Huh?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Well, Jensen saw just one ball in the at-bat, but Severino needed seven pitches to get the strikeout. Jensen fouled off three pitches, and one of them was lined right at an EMT.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A male EMT, which is important to note in this story.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The line drive off Jensen\u2019s bat hit the man in the groin as he was standing to the side of the Royals\u2019 dugout. Statcast showed the exit velocity was 98.5 mph and there was just 0.6 seconds of \u201copportunity time,\u201d which means the ball was scorched.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019ll knock the wind out of ya,\u201d Royals.TV analyst Rex Hudler said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Without missing a beat, Ryan Lefebvre correctly noted: \u201cOr worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It appeared one of the Royals trainers checked on the man, who likely is still feeling that today.<\/p>\n
