It\u2019s definitely a first time thing,\u201d HomeState\u2019s founder &amp; CEO, Briana Valdez, exclusively told Page Six, adding that Okatsuka and her husband, Ryan Harper Gray, have been frequent customers since her first restaurant in Hollywood opened in 2013.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>HomeState announced their newest celebrity collaboration with comedian Atsuko Okatsuka (seen above with her bowl outside of the restaurant). <span class=\"credit\">Jason LeCras<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The new The Atsuko Bowl is an extension of their famous band program. <span class=\"credit\">Jason LeCras<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The Atsuko Bowl \u2014 which will be available to customers from May 6 \u2013 June 14 in conjunction with the comedian\u2019s \u201cBig Bowl Tour\u201d and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month \u2014  will blend Japanese and Tejano ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>Valdez told us it was extremely important to them to highlight the Mexican American and Japanese American cultures in the new bowl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really proud of it and I think that people are going to love it,\u201d the Texas native said. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m obsessed with it. I think it is so good. It\u2019s so delicious.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The bowl will launch on May 6 and be available until June 14.  <span class=\"credit\">Jason LeCras<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The bowl includes rice, chicken, black beans, mushrooms, shredded cabbage, picked jalape\u00f1os, sour cream, tortilla strips, cilantro and miso-chipotle sauce. <span class=\"credit\">Jason LeCras<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The bowl includes Kokuho Calrose rice from California \u2014 similar to sushi rice, but with lime juice instead of rice vinegar \u2014 achiote-marinated chicken, black beans, mushrooms, shredded cabbage, pickled jalape\u00f1os and topped with sour cream, tortilla strips, cilantro and a miso-chipotle sauce. <\/p>\n<p>HomeState\u2019s band program, which began in 2015 and includes previous collaborations with Questlove, Phoebe Bridgers, Leon Bridges, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem, The Mar\u00edas and Fred Armisen, has raised over $500,000 for nonprofit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Okatsuka\u2019s bowl and Williams\u2019 recent taco are currently raising money for The Immigrant Defenders Law Center, who work to defend immigrant communities. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>HomeState\u2019s band program began in 2015 and has included celebs like Questlove, seen above.  <span class=\"credit\">HomeState<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The program raises money for various LA nonprofits (Mar\u00eda Zardoya from the Mar\u00edas pictured above).  <span class=\"credit\">HomeState<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey are doing such important work,\u201d Valdez told us. \u201cIt feels it feels really good to be aligned in that with this partner and be able to raise funds that can create such tangible impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The process of creating the band tacos, Valdez explained, is different for each person depending on their schedule.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe start off by finding out what is it that you order when you come to HomeState,\u201d she told us, noting that they\u2019ve never done a collab with someone who doesn\u2019t eat at the restaurant. \u201cThat\u2019s a big criteria for the program at large is they have to be guest.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Fred Armisen\u2019s Emo\u2019s taco became a mainstay on the menu after the fundraising program on his collaboration ended. Can we try this? Can we try that?\u2019 And they get a lot more involved in the creative process and both are awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though the band collaborations \u2014 which are so popular bands have actually sent in videos and campaigns requesting one \u2014 come to an end, some of them are so popular, like Armisen\u2019s Emo\u2019s and Leon Bridges\u2019 Fort Worth tacos, they remain mainstays on the menu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t decide the guests do, you guys do,\u201d Valdez said of which celebrity creations they keep around. \u201cSome magic that happens every now and then where it fills a need that we don\u2019t have, like a mushroom taco.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Founder and CEO, Briana Valdez (pictured above), told Page Six she\u2019s extremely \u201cgrateful\u201d to the HomeState community. <span class=\"credit\">Jason LeCras<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A-listers including Mia Goth and Elijah Wood are frequent customers at various locations. <span class=\"credit\">HomeState<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Seemingly hinting at <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DW1uNB8Ca30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Williams\u2019 Parachute taco<\/a> \u2014 which is set to leave the menu on May 17 and features mushrooms, black beans, lettuce, Monterey Jack cheese and crunchy tortilla strips, topped with tomatillo ranch \u2014 Valdez teased there are \u201calready rumblings of it potentially sticking around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HomeState, which brings in A-list regular customers including Elijah Wood and Mia Goth, have opened eight locations across Los Angeles, with two more on the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the best community,\u201d Valdez said. \u201cIt\u2019s like unlike anything I\u2019ve ever seen.
