{"id":2396318,"date":"2026-04-30T16:36:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T16:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2396318"},"modified":"2026-04-30T16:36:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T16:36:33","slug":"listen-to-swim-deeps-dizzyingly-romantic-new-single-mud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/listen-to-swim-deeps-dizzyingly-romantic-new-single-mud\/","title":{"rendered":"Listen to Swim Deep&#8217;s dizzyingly romantic new single &#8216;Mud&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/swim-deep\">Swim Deep<\/a> have shared a new single, \u2018Mud\u2019 \u2013 you can listen to it below.<\/p>\n<p>The soaring, romantic anthem is the latest preview of the Birmingham band\u2019s fifth studio album, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/swim-deep-return-new-album-hum-single-pieces-of-you-2026-uk-tour-buy-tickets-3927817\">\u2018Hum\u2019<\/a>, which is set for release on June 19 via Submarine Cat Records.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Mud\u2019 was born in our label\u2019s studio, where we would meet up and jam with no real pressure or goal, just friends playing music together and expressing ourselves the only way we know how,\u201d explained frontman Austin Williams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chorus came to me, which I immediately thought was too good for it to be an original thought; it\u2019s like seeing a magic trick and being told it\u2019s actually magic, no trick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cWith all the other things going on in our lives, I often forget that the one constant thing is the love I have for my wife every day. This song is about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Swim Deep - Mud\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eIbMKXEuTDk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u2018Mud\u2019 was produced by <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/bill-ryder-jones\">Bill Ryder-Jones<\/a>, who also helmed Swim Deep\u2019s 2024 record <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/swim-deep-announce-new-album-theres-a-big-star-outside-produced-by-bill-ryder-jones-3590752\">\u2018There\u2019s A Big Star Outside\u2019<\/a>, and reunited with the group on the forthcoming \u2018Hum\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Guitarist J.J. Buchanan commented: \u201cThe outro was a three-month-long battle in which we were all trying to steer the ship in the same direction (a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/teenage-fanclub\">Teenage Fanclub<\/a>\u2018s \u2018The Concept\u2019-inspired instrumental) but just via different routes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLuckily, captain Bill stepped up to the wheel and got us out of the storm unscathed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-interviews\/swim-deep-in-the-studio-hum-interview-3927543\">When speaking to the band earlier this year<\/a>, <em>NME<\/em> noted \u201cthe slow, grungy stomp of \u2018Mud&#8217;\u201d while James Balmont discussed the \u201cguiding lights\u201d of Swim Deep\u2019s new album. \u201cEach song should go on a journey,\u201d he told us.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Ryder-Jones said he thought there was \u201cstill a lot of work to be done\u201d on the LP, as the group wrapped up sessions. \u201cIt still feels like we haven\u2019t quite cracked some things,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Swim Deep, She Changes The Weather - Song Stories\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nveXpDrGRoU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re definitely going in the right direction. Sometimes it takes two or three records to settle into a new era.
