\n\tOlivia Rodrigo<\/a> has been heavily impacted by the fictional relationship between Sex and the City<\/a><\/em> characters Miranda Hobbs and Steve Brady. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon<\/a> on The Tonight Show<\/em>, the singer revealed that \u201cmultiple songs\u201d on her forthcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love<\/em>, were inspired by the couple. <\/p>\n \n\tRodrigo explained to Fallon that the album\u2019s first single, \u201cDrop Dead,\u201d is about a \u201creally awesome first date\u201d and represents the \u201cfirst step\u201d of the LP. \u201cThe journey definitely ebbs and flows and goes in lots of different places from here, but this is the first chapter,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n \n\tShe added, \u201cI knew I wanted this record to be about romantic love in more of a positive sense because my last two, obviously, were a little heartbroken and angsty, as they should be. So I knew I wanted to write some kind of love songs, but I also wanted to inject them with a little bit of sadness and longing and melancholy, because all my favorite love songs have that.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tShe cited the Cure\u2019s \u201cLove Song\u201d and Lana Del Rey\u2019s \u201cVideo Games\u201d as two her favorite love songs, calling them \u201cso sad.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tRodrigo confirmed to Fallon that \u201cthere\u2019s actually multiple songs that are inspired by Miranda and Steve.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s my favorite show,\u201d she said. \u201cI think I\u2019ve watched every single episode maybe three times. When Miranda and Steve are getting back together she\u2019s crying and she\u2019s like, \u2018Steve, any time something funny I just want to tell you.\u2019 And I remember watching that and being like, \u2018Oh my God, I have to write a song about this.’\u201d<\/p>\n
